Frankly, I wouldn't waste your time looking all of this up.  The job of a police officer is just to arrest the bad guys, say the charges, and send'em away.  If you're asking so you can accurately say what they are being charged with, that would be something for someone more legally knowledgeable to answer.

Here is a site with some info that may be useful: https://criminal-law.freeadvice.com/criminal-law/violent_crimes/degrees.murder.htm

It includes the degrees, and manslaughter located with a link down at the bottom. I found the site by random so use at your own discretion.

In terms of how they are applied is pretty much up to you and seeing what charge fits the bill the best. Hope this helps.

Keep in mind that you'll get varying answers if you really start diving into it. Every state has different classifications and definitions of Homicide, what degrees they are, etc. and this goes for every crime. In terms of LSPDFR most mods base stuff off of California and LA kind of law so if you want try the California Penal Code. But, that doesn't necessarily mean whoever made whichever mods your using that they based it off of CPC.

Here's the difference in simple terms along with differing degrees - http://www.differencebetween.net/miscellaneous/difference-between-murder-and-manslaughter/

Additionally, if you have questions about Assault and Battery differences - https://www.differencebetween.com/difference-between-assault-and-battery/

I don't use this mod, so I'm not sure if it fits your needs. It will give you more options on what degree to charge a suspect

Thank you everyone for the help

in my state (Oklahoma) anything longer than a year sentence is a felony if its like 6 mouths thats going to be a mistermenor

second degree murder would be you caused someone to be in immediate danger and you caused them to die

first degree is you had the malice aforethought or the intent to kill example of this would be you and your buddy go rob a convenience store and hold the clerk at gun point well you now if you killed the store clerk that would be felony murder and is i think punishable by life in prison or life without out prole Holding the store clerk with a gun is called robbery with a dangerous weapon and its part of first degree murder. But if the store clerk shot your buddy you could face charges of second degree murder because you caused your buddies death both of first and second degree murders are part of homicide

This is the best way i can explain it if there any lawyers or police officers that would like to tell me wrong please go ahead

In Oklahoma the most punishable thing in terms of murder is first degree. Second degree is semi punshibal but not as bad
