Your save game file is corrupt. You will need to delete it from GTA and create a new game (or load an older one). Eventually there should be a giant warning label that says DO NOT SAVE ON DUTY, many people have had their saves corrupted from this.

Since you use use dsound as your asi loader, your save will be in C:UsersYOURUSERNAMEAppDataLocalRockstar GamesGTA IVsavegames

Delete your save game files from inside that directory. If you don't know which one it is, it may be best to delete them all (or at least move them to your desktop so you can place them back in one by one until you find the bad one).

IDK for steam, but I think you get the point of it. Click the blue orb (aka Start Button.) and go to Documents>Rockstar>GTAIV>Savegames.

Here's a link for a new 100% Campaign save: http://www.gtainside...wnload&id=20685

PS: I think the saves apply for the install disc and steam. So it should have created a Rockstar document directory.

It's only in documents if you use xlive, which he does not. User music will be in documents, but not saves.

  • 3 weeks later...

Im having the same issue.. But i have windows 7 and i don't have the savegame in the documents b/c it just have video and music there and i tried to find this "C:UsersYOURUSERNAMEAppDataLocalRockstar GamesGTA IVsavegames" but i don't have APPDATA folder!!

It may be hidden, try using the Run command and entering the directory there. Or using the nav bar at the top of the explorer browser.

In future, it may be a good idea to create a new thread instead of hijacking someone elses. The mods don't like it.

That didn't work either, but thanks anyway i went to the control panel/folders and put a check on "show all folders" and then it showed up!! But

Dude how you figure that i hijacked this thread??? His answers was answered and he was happy with those answers apparently!! I had the same issue with saving while on duty, but i couldn't find that folder with my save game in it to delete my last save file!! So why junk up the site with threads with the same topic/questions??
