Calling for backup results in graphic glitches

Featured Replies

I had this problem since I started with LSPDFR in 2016, and it occurs whenever I call for backup. If I call for a large amount of units, the effect is worse, but even if I call for only one single unit first problems get visible, for example the mountains are flickering. And from then on it gets worse even if I dont call for any other backup. I tried almost everything I can think of: Set GTA's priotity to high via task manager, which has only little effect, I deleted visual mods, deleted the entire mods folder, reinstalled GTA V itself, RageHook, LSPDFR, played without any plugins or scripts and so on, but as soon as I call for backup, this s*** starts again. If I don't call for backup I can basically play all day long without major problems, until the game crashes due to some other error.

Would make me very glad if someone came up with a solution to this. It's gotta be related to RageHook or LSPDFR somehow, because without LSPDFR installed and tons of mods I could spawn a thousand vehicles and stuff and this doesn't happen.

System Specs: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080, 8GB /  20GB RAM /  Intel Xeon CPU W3550 @ 3.07GHz

Thanks a lot in advance!

If you use 4K vehicle textures for your police vehicles, try downgrading them to 2K

Thanks, but I did that already, it was lots of work, same for weapons, ped skins and so on.

No, I did it a long time ago and downgraded all textures of vehicles I added in the meantime. You can see the results in the video :/

What DS Young said is pretty much the answer.  Graphical glitches like that are generally caused by too much memory being used, or just not enough for GTA.  The only time I've had this problem is with 4k textures, and/or high poly vehicles.  You see it happen a lot more when too many high poly vehicles are in one area.  The best thing to do is rename your mods folder to _mods

This will disable all mods in the mods folder.  Now go in game and play around.  Does it still happen?

I tried to do so, but I have a customized backup.xml file so no backup would show up. Almost forgot how ugly GTA is without visual mods^^ But I am certain that the problem occured too when I had the mods folder removed after a fresh installation last year.

Well, since it was last year, and a lot of things happen, I think it's best to try again and just verify.  Doesn't your backup.xml have any of the vanilla slots like police, police2, etc?

It does have vanilla slots, but if I request backup once or twice, it doesn't show up. And if I try again and again LSPDFR crashes.

Some time ago I turned off some callouts, for example a store robbery callout, I do know that they caused that graphics issue too. Let's say, without mods folder it wouldn't occur. But everyone has one, and most people have lots of different mods. How come that I never heard of it from others, and haven't seen it in a video? Am I the only one who has this problem? I mean, there must be a way to solve it, that doesn't force me to remove my mods folder.

Btw, I just rewatched the video, what the hell is going on with that warehouse at the beginning?

The backup issue indicates a problem with your backup.xml, either an error on your part with editing, or the vehicle model cannot be loaded. Which, wouldn't be surprising since your mods folder is inoperable currently.  What I was primarily trying to figure out was if the mods folder was in fact causing your problems.  So far it seems like it is.  I imagine the backup.xml will be fixed once your custom models can be used again, but I'd double check it and make sure there's no errors, which include missing opening and closing tags, and small v instead of capitalized.  All <Vehicle> tags should be capitalized.

Yeah I get it, that's not the problem, the backup works just fine if I activate the mods folder. Besides the glitches.

But there must be a way to play while using a mods folder and modded vehicles, without those glitches appearing. Almost everybody uses a mods folder with modded vehicles in it, so why are there only a few people experiencing these problems?

If the mods folder is working and I start GTA without LSPDFR, I can spawn dozens of cars via trainer and none of these problems occur. And if LSPDFR is activated, and I walk by a police station with lots of modded vehicles or some random police chase happens, none of these problems occur either. Those glitches only appear if I call for backup. So it must somehow be related to RageHook or LSPDFR itself.

I guess you have a mods folder too, and are using modded vehicles. Can you call for backup without these glitches happening? There must be another solution to it than just not using mods.

Whoa whoa, lets back up here!  The solution isn't to not use mods, the issue is almost positively something that can be changed.  The reason I have you disable the mods folder is so that we can determine what is causing said problem.  My next possibility is one of your vehicle mods is the problem.  Where do you have them all installed?

Modding, that's the folders name. I'm using 'Albo's way of modding' or whatever it is called^^

Try deleting albo's modding folder and use the patchday for vehicle replacements.

Do you think that albo's modding folder is the problem? I am pretty sure that I had this problem already before I started using albo's modding pack. I really don't want this to be the problem, it took me a lot of work to set it up, added cars, peds and so on.

I had this problem for the first time that I can remember when I added a Ford Ambulance, that had like 10 or 12 different 4k skins. I deleted most of those skins and downgraded the others, and since then there's been no more problems when an ambulance appeared. If it is necessary to delete Albo's folder, I'm gonna wait until the new version of LSPDFR is available, re-install GTA V and start using the patchday folders. Otherwise it's just too much work.

Do you know how Albo's modding folder works? I mean, it is a patchday folder too, basically.

I have never used his modding folder, so I can't offer anything there.  I wouldn't wait for 0.4, it could still be a while away.  (I don't know either, tbh. We aren't told)

Thanks a lot for your  answers Giordano. I was able to solve the problem.

After installing a custom gameconfig.xml (Limitless Add-On Vehicles) like recommended in another thread, the texture issue appeared like it did before. Next I also used the task manager, I set the priority of gta5.exe to high, and also changed the CPU-affinity, de-selected all cores and checked all again except core 0.

Tested it for one and an half hour, before that  I couldn't even play 10 minutes without the texture issues happening (as soon as I called for backup it started). I can even use the panic button now, no issues, nothing at all. No weird stuff happening on the mountains, no missing roads, nothing. Thanks guys!
