Bodycam shows moment deputy suffers panic attack whil armed

NOTE: There is strong language in this video.

Several things here.

1) Someone yelled "gun" - who I'm not sure - before he fired, so he could've thought the male suspect had a gun, was reaching for one, or was going to get one.

2) He failed to mention on his report he had a panic attack.  This tells me either he didn't want to be let go, he never mentioned to the department he has a history of panic attacks or his family did, or this was PTSD.

3) When the paramedic was trying to take Johnson's gun, he wouldn't let go.  This could've been the panic attack/PTSD.

4) That paramedic was a boss!  Took the gun and resumed the role of giving out commands to the suspect.

5) True redneck fashion.  Pregnant, belligerent chick who SHOULD think to shut up and act reasonable considering she's pregnant, but no, continues to cause problems and resist arrest.

I'm sorry the deputy went through this, but he 100% should lose his job.  The only exception is if it was just an on the fly breakdown he suffered.

I need donations to help fund my food addiction. DM for details 😂

Honestly It could be the first time he got in an oh shit moment. Doesn't matter how much you train bad shit can happen when the juices are flowing for real. Whats really scary is the back up was a good 5-7 minutes out.

Not saying he shouldn't see a shrink and I am not saying he shouldn't have left that shit out of his report. He should have to go to mandatory counseling. He should get reprimanded for omitting it from the report. He should consider if he cant work through this finding a new career.

Again though I have had soldiers that we trained constantly that still freezes or panicked the first time real lead was coming at them.

You may suffer a panic attack without any prior. He was probably hit by suprise too, like Predatorz said, it may have been his first gunpoint situation. So I guess it was his only time. Some officers puke, some faint, some bleed from the nose... You cant expect to nail anything at first... at least not without luck so obviously you're too nervous. Some people have a panic attack as often as we catch a cold and some may never experience in a lifetime. But there are those in the middle.

Maybe a suspension and a medical evaluation would be the most apropriate. We dont need to go all crazy based on one video.

And it was halfway the process so I would say its just from the adrenaline dump...

But I agree that the paramedic was badass AF. Taking care of the officer, telling the woman to STFU and keeping the suspect at gunpoint with one hand. Definition of badass
