Any Idea What Siren?

Featured Replies

Does anybody have an idea of what siren this Caledonia Police Department FPIU uses? I've been trying to figure it out for awhile. Yes this is my YT. No this is not an advertisement. Thank you in advance.

It sounds like a Whelen Cencom/Sapphire. The Hi-Lo sounds Whelen to me, but again, there are many variable that can make one siren sound like another, such as reverbs, Doppler effect, etc. The yelp sounds very close to Whelen Cencom, but the wail and hi-lo is different.  Whelen Cencom has a big market in New York, so i won't be surprised if this unit is running with one, as the lights on it are Whelen too. Do you have more videos of this unit ?

I do. I have at least one more, but I'm not sure the siren is used in that. It's a small town so the only time I catch them rolling code is for fire calls, and burglaries. They don't roll code for EMS calls except for the chief. He rolls code for foot injuries... Most likely because he knows the patient and can't get in trouble... I'm not kidding. Now that my rant about my PD is over I have heard them use either a howler or rumbler. I'll link you them in a few after I find them.

If you heard them using Howler, then it's a Whelen Cencom.

I'm not sure if it's a howler or rumbler. From what I understand howlers can be fitted to any Whelen siren. I just don't think it's very common. Not sure never had to install any siren equipment.

It's unlikely I'll find more, so this might be it.

Sounds like a Federal Signal PA640 to me.

I think you may be right. Any idea when the 640 was made? If it was around the early to mid 2000's then they probably took it off the old 301 which was most likely a 05 Vic. Now back in 2010/2011 301 was redone. It had a new livery, but that does make me wonder if they just replaced it.

PA 640 is correct. Sorry for the late update, but my sources have confirmed that it's a Federal Signal PA640 and not Whelen's Cencom.

Yeah no problem. A correct answer is a correct answer no matter how much time it takes :).
