Recommended Texture Editing Software

Featured Replies

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the best software(besides photoshop) is to use for editing vehicle textures. I really enjoy texturing but it seems my skins are missing something when I use paint .net. So, if anyone has any other programs that are better than paint . net then please let me know and I'll check them out.

GIMP is a program that, at least a while back, was the best free editor - https://www.gimp.org/

I need donations to help fund my food addiction. DM for details 😂

Photoshop remains the best, but first it demands a certain dexterity and knowledge of picture editing, and second the license can be pretty expensive. Not that it's difficult to find it for free of course, if you know where to look, but yeah.

You can't legally get it for free though can you?

What do you mean by some of your skins are missing?

You can never hope because you will be disappointed.

I didn't say my skins are missing, I said it seems like they're missing something compared to the ones I made with photoshop back when I had it.

Ooooh I understand now. I feel you. Try modding paint.net heavily with a bunch of plugins or you could try gimp?

Nope. It's a licensed software, you've to buy the license for it. But as I said, it's really not that hard to find it for free if you know where to look on the internet... I'm sure many skin makers did just that, and it's really not risky at all. Up to you in the end. Either you get Photoshop in a not-so-legal way, but you definitely get the best picture editing software on the market, or you go for the free, legal alternative with GIMP as Illusionyary said, which is good, but not as good as Photoshop.

Do you have any paint .net plugins suggestions?

You wouldn't happen to know of a good tutorial to get started on gimp would you?
