Chevrolet Caprice PPV and Chevrolet SS Discontinued

Featured Replies

Thursday was a sad day for RWD, V8 sedan enthusiasts. The last Chevrolet Caprice PPV and Chevrolet SS were produced. As tradition holds, and as we did for the Ford Crown Victoria, I figured I'd honor its discontinuation with a topic. I'm surprised no one has made one already.

The Dodge Charger is now the only brand new, V8, RWD American Sedan you can buy at a dealership.

Damn, I was kinda hoping the Commodore would live on as the SS (Both cars are the same chassis). But alas it seems like GM is discontinuing the whole chassis. Sad, It is a really nice car all around.

Sad for the platform, but the reality is that it wasn't very much liked by the industry, especially the awkward shifter placement, costs, and outperformance by Ford and Chrysler.

I have faith the Impala 1FL could certainly work for a dept that was well served with the previous Impala. But 100% agreed, the loss of the Caprice (again) is tragic (again).

I agree. I think the newer Impalas, or even a different platform, is much more feasible for police use -- maybe a good response to the FPR (Fusion)?
