Afternoon everyone,

Just wondering I heard that when a GTA V update is released I have to delete my openiv mods folder and reinstall everything like cars custom skins etc.

Is this true?

people say for best results yes.....personally...i didnt do it, i just backed up my cars, then added the new update files to my mods folder, put the cars in the latest file and boom werks

While a lot of models (vehicles, peds, etc.) can be safely moved over to an updated game version/installation, a large portion of script-based mods (ScriptHook V, RAGE Plugin Hook, etc.) must be updated by the developers to be made compatible with the newer game version. Graphical enhancement mods (such as VisualV) need to be updated per game update. While RAGE Plugin Hook needs to be updated per game version release, LSPDFR itself does not (LSPDFR 0.3 has been the current version available for a very long time, now). It is worth noting that plugins for LSPDFR and RAGE Plugin Hook typically need to be updated over time, not per RPH update, but whenever an RPH update changes/breaks how the plugins would function.

Hey guys, Thanks for your speedy response. Been away on business for a week so havent been able to get to a PC. I am fairly new to GTA on PC could you direct me to some instructions showing me how to back up my cars and custom sounds to the new version?

Some scripts didn't even update in like months, so no, not all of them need updates with every game update. The ones that need you will notice not work properly or even give you information in game that they need to be updated.
