Very high graphic settings dont look as good as they should

Featured Replies

My "problem" might sound a bit strange/weird in the first place, but actually it is currently a very confusing problem for me.

I used to play GTA on a Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition. It definitly didnt performed too good, but I was able to run the game on low-mid settings. During nighttime inner city i definitly had some fps drops but overall it was playable and I didnt mind about the way the game was looking too much.

I got a new grafics card a couple of days ago. Its a Radeon RX 480 Gamig X 8 GB. It might not be a high-end GPU, but it is definitly powerfull enough for everything that is currently out there. Of course I got into GTA and was looking forward to see the game on high end settings. There are a lot of Videos/Screenshots our there that show how good the game can be looking, especially with VisualV etc.

Long story short: I went ahead and put up the grafic settings. I started LSPDFR, went on duty and the FPS were really good. Textures looking fine aswell. So I start driving around, and start to notice that some things didnt change at all. The distance view is pretty bad. I didnt had a sharp view at all. Its kind of washed up and blurred. I also notice that on the roads right infront of me, they also seem to be blurred expecially when moving. Also, there is alot of flickering on edges, especially on clothing or fences or road/sidewalk edges.

I tried playing around with different settings, like increse someting, decrese something else, etc, but tbh I didnt see much of a difference.

There are a ton of topics on the internet with even more different recommendations what to do, what settings to change. But that istn really helpfull scince there is a lot of different stuff.

So if someone might have had a similar problem or knows what some "good" settings are for the game I would be very thankfull

I tried again playing around with the settings and now I dont even have good FPS anymore. It only runs with about 40 FPS with pretty similar settings to yesterday. My computer should handle a 3 year old GTA on high settings when it can handle Battlefield 1 on Ultra settings easily.

I made a quick video (sry for the format, I just used Fraps and Movie Maker really quick). You can see the flickering edges, especially on that metal transport container on the sidewalk or the cars on the road. Also you can see the blurry background.

I dont know whats up with my game, but something has to be messed up. When I watch LSPDFR videos by popular youtubers, the game looks very beautiful, but what I see is just not good at all.

Re-installed the game?

Do you have FXAA on?

Re installed graphics card drivers and restarted PC?

Tried using your graphics card's control panel to force anti aliasing and other settings?

Re-installed VisualV by running the .oiv package again?

Shadows on very high?

All of these questions are equally important.

I understand how you might feel, I used to get shadows rendering 1 metre in front of my player on i7 5820K, SSD, 16GB RAM and 980Ti SLI. Re installing the game and setting shadows to very high made it a LOT less bad, to the point I couldn't notice it.

Good luck.

As I said, I played aound with the settings alot but no difference. For the other points: The GPU is brand new, drivers up to date, GPU uses a custom setting for the game so I am like 99% sure its the game itself causing trouble^^

I am going to reinstall the game tomorrow I guess, when I finished downloading the 70 GB.
