How to make a specific head not wear a hat?

Featured Replies

you probably have to extract the original, then import it back onto the model you want to put it on example, M_Y_COP_P to M_Y_STROOPER_P, it's just an example, but rename the one you extracted to the one you want so, cop hat too strooper, same thing as switching out models

In one of the files in Common/Data, it has something that disables/enables the ped hat. I can't remember which file, though.

EDIT: Cp got it, it is peds.ide.

To stop the hat appearing, you can open peds.ide, and go to the line for that ped. Say it's M_Y_COP. The first two entries in the line are M_Y_COP and M_Y_COP_P. Change the M_Y_COP_P to M_Y_CO_P (or anything like that; the idea is that you're changing the file where it gets the props [in this case, hat and sunglasses] from a file that exists to one that doesn't. Hence, it won't load props for the ped).

That sticky is about modeling..

Ped texture discoveries and Combining Ped Meshes are NOT about modelling, they are about telling GTA IV which components a given model will use. In this case it applies to not having a certain face be able to use a hat.

ped TEXTURES not model's , a hat, is a model, you are replacing the model itself, NOT the texture, if you were replacing the texture, it would just change the texture of the hat and you would still have the same hat, which would defeat the purpose..

You could always make a transparent texture. Also, "Combining ped meshes" is like modelling, but without the "modelling" part. You combine premade models in new ways. In this case, you could remove the hat from the props model while keeping the glasses.

The Ped Texture Discoveries thread provides the needed information on naming and file structure to be used with the information given in Combining Ped Meshes thread. The clothes on the ped ARE models and he wants to specific a certain model doesn't wear a hat, those two threads has the information he needs to do so. It's quite obvious you haven't read the thread on combining meshes or you'd understand why I suggested he read it. Look man I'm not here to argue with anyone I'm trying to help him out and you're speaking on something you do not understand, as shown by contradicting yourself with your two replies to me.

Anyways, Deputy.Donuts sorry to hijack your thread. Read Ped Texture Discoveries and Combining Ped Meshes, the latter will tell you how to simply modify a text file used to tell the game which components a ped uses, allowing you to remove the hat model from that specific ped without changing any actual content files.
