You're going to have to be able to find the ped you want to edit within OpenIV. Once you find it, open up the ped.ytd and export the uniforms you want to edit. From there you'd use a program such a Photoshop to edit the textures, save it as something else (to save the old and new). Then from there, just go back to OpenIV, click replace, and find the texture you edited.

Test it out in-game.

So, basically export the uniforms from s_m_y_cop_01 or s_m_y_sheriff_01 ytds and then basically just add ranks to them and replace the uniforms with the exact texture names once i save the file?

No, as far as I know, you have to edit the texture directly.

Okay but then I'm wondering, won't the ranks show up on the uniform texture or can I do it both ways?

Yes, the rank will show up on the uniform texture.

okay but can i do say like multiple layers and make it so that when i replace the uniform it will just show up as a regular uniform and then ingame i can just change the texture so that when i try to change the texture the rank will change as the options on the uniform get changed. That's what I'm trying to do mostly with adding more ranks to the default uniforms.
