Frustrated wife seeking help...please!

Featured Replies

Hi all!

I bought my hubs a gaming computer for his birthday (I know, wife of the year here!), and we can't figure out what we are doing wrong with downloading rage hook and everything else that is needed so he can play LSPDFR. I am at a complete loss as to how to help him, and this is his first gaming computer and neither one of us are very computer savy. Can someone please give me an idiots guide??

Do you happen to have GTA V installed? Some people have made the mistake of not knowing they needed it.

Yes, we do...

So are they aren't working after being installed, or are you unsure how to install?

When rage hook begins to load it tells us we have insufficient permission....we have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times now. I am at a loss....

Have you tried running as Admin (or even doing the install), some times the 'user account control' (a windows thing) can get in the way even if the account is an admin one.

Then navigate to the folder GTA V is installed in (if it's the disc version, [driveletter]:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\ , replace [driveletter] with whichever hard drive you have it installed in, if multiple are present. If it's the Steam version, [driveletter]:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common. If you have a 64 bit operating system it may be installed in Program Files (x86).) Right click the "Grand Theft Auto V" folder. Click "Properties". Then uncheck "read only" and click apply. Select in the box that comes up "apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files". Click OK.

Ok, we tried, but even after applying the changes it automatically rechecks itself...?

What operating system are you running?

Windows 10

Go back to the Properties window on the Grand Theft Auto V folder, and select the security tab. Select administrator in the list at the top and tick the "write" permission for it. Then untick the read-only box in the General tab again.

Am I supposed to click edit after I have admin highlighted?

Oh, yes, you need to click edit, then select Administrators in the list, and tick the write permission.

So it has a check or no check? it currently is checked....?

Then you should have permission. Have you tried opening RagePluginHook since doing the read-only unticking? I read on a Windows 10 forum that it'll always be a box if you uncheck it. So maybe it's worked and you should try anyway.

I don't know if I'm legally allowed to say this here but if you wish you can download TeamViewer and I can attempt to fix your problem via remote connection.
