While it might sound like a lazy response, it's generally a bad idea to minimize a game. Some games handle this fantastic, however a game as unstable and poorly coded as GTA IV isn't one of them. I think everyone has had this issue including me. So as ineseri said, just don't minimize and you should be fine.
