Errr, I missed a lot, anyway, is anyone thinking of possibly making a VicPol SOG Nissan Patrol? Would nicely replace the granger. Just a suggestion though.

It's weird that I used to be in Australia and now I'm in the UK, lol. Still! I still play around with the Australian cars

How's the UK?

There's no good nissan patrol models out there yet, and humster 3d is very expensive if you want a custom model

How much are we looking at? Mid 200s?

Most of the pre-made models ready for purchase are around that $200 mark, even from other 3d modelling websites, some towards the $400 mark (fuck me, expensive, right?) so I would expect custom orders to be considerably more.
Price depends on the item itself I believe, obviously a truck or ferrari, even the Varley pod or full Hilux paddy wagon model would be an expensive custom order for what it is compared to say a casual and common Ford Focus.

US modellers are somewhat lucky, being their cars are already in most games, like especially the Crown Vic, Taurus and then the Tahoe and Explorer, even F350 in recent games, so they usually get ripped from those games (I think the Taurus FPI for GTAV, maybe I'm thinking of a different car though was taken from Driver San Francisco.)

A normal model is between $75 and $95 (all of this is USD), one with a high quality interior, such as the vf ss is $150, custom models are $150 and a custom model with high quality interior is $300 on top of that.

that varley pod on my paddy wagon was fully scratch made though

I've seen this term a few times but not really sure, what does 'scratch made' mean?

In most cases, it generally means the mod author made the item all by themselves. No prior model was available, so they scratch make it

Like actually drawing it out poly by poly? Shit that must take some epic patience!

Indeed, that's why there are no where near as many modellers compared to people who make skins/textures. It's a time consuming process...

Essentially yeah that's it, except it's not quite as painstaking as poly by poly, for starters I always use a mirror tool so the model is symmetrical where I need it to be.

the speed model video I did of a ford ranger CFA pod is more or less the same way I made the varley pod, except with the varley pod I had no real idea of how to make it, I was just mucking around until I got something I was happy with

For example, the pumper I made, The cab was acquired from a website (I did end up editing the front of the cab) but the entire rear of the truck was made from scratch.

😱

yeah well I was about to edit my comment and put "fucked if I've ever done it so I don't know shit so correct me if I'm wrong, Mac"

Think I got pretty close from my quick geez at their store and site and using my brain, had no idea the Varley pod was made from scratch though. I'm amazed.

I was reading through the first couple of pages and you know who's been real quiet?

@SCstJacob

I still get real hyped when I see the pics of the XR8 and the VF II, haven't heard much about it though. Any progress brother? 👌🏼

edit: 800th thread post - nice
