Great to see such a thread in existence here on the forums! Since I bought GTA 4 years ago now, I played LCPDFR literally like everyday lol...

 

BUT, then came Grand Theft Auto 5. I have modded GTA V previously but it has been a while so I require some assistance in doing so haha. At the moment I'm currently trying to install Macgregor's FG-X Falcon, I'm sure it's not the model itself but in fact the way I'm installing something. I've followed all the instructions but when I spawn in the vehicle, it is the default sheriff car. Tried both via the trainer and in the cop station but no luck either way. Any help fixing this would be great, send me a pm if ya like :)

sometimes Rockstar updates vehicles in their updates, the way the game loads them means the last update overrides anything earlier. So, if the instructions say to install in patchday1, and the sheriff slot got updated in patchday3, the default one will override the modded one. You should be able to get it to work by installing it into patchday10 (you can basically install every modded car in the last patchday you've got.... though the meta files still generally need to go where the mod author specifies

Where did you replace it? Sometimes rockstar copy pastes the vehicles in different archives, and if you don't replace the latest one it won't work. I'm pretty sure that the latest sheriff slot is in patchday3 but I could be wrong.

This problem is caused when some games have the sheriff car in an update instead of the usual x64e.rpf. I don't know why some copies of the game have this, but they do, and the easy fix is to use the open search tool in open IV, type in sheriff.yft, and it will show up if it's located in another .rpf. Then just simply install it there.

this is just for the model files too, the handling and vehicles shouldn't need to be moved

you can actually create your own .rpf and if you do it right you can make the game think it's an update. Saves you from having mods in multiple areas.

Yeah, I've been thinking of setting one up to make modding easier for people when I've got some more free time next week. Could easily be setup so everything (even the metas) could go in there.
