What have I done?

Featured Replies

I apologize for this stupid question, but I'm doing something wrong.

I have the ASI Loader and OpenIV.asi as verified in OpenIV.

I have /mods folder, and the entire /update folder copied into the /mods folder.

I feel comfortable with the plugins now, so I though I'd try some modding additions.

I created the mods folder and put an entire copy of the update folder in there.

I downloaded the 70's traffic mod, put the popouts.ymt in update/update.rpf/x64/levels/gta5 as directed after making a backup of the original popouts.ymt. I may have also put it in the standdard/update/update.rpf/x64/levels/gta5.

Now when I went to put the original back (in both the mod/update/update.rpf/x64/levels/gta5 and vanilla update/update.rpf/x64/levels/gta5on OpenIV) i removed the 70's and added my original popouts.ymt back in.

Now there is no traffic in either LSPDFR mode, or regular story mode.

I can see headlights way off, and then they disappear.

Couple of questions.

1. with the mods folder and the OpenIV.asi, does this also cause the game to read everything in the mods folder like the popouts, or are things like that read from the vanilla /update folder only?

2. What have I done wrong with moving the files? Why isn't my traffic generating again?

Edit:

Now that I look at it, that original popouts.ymt is 0 bytes. WTH? Where can I get my vanilla version without reinstalling everything? I stared to make a backkup of the entire GTA V steam folder, but it was so large I stopped that. bad move.

Thanks...

Assuming this is the only thing you modified, you can verify the game cache and it will redownload the original popouts.ymt file

Wait, I think I see the problem. In the mods folder somehow I put in two update.rpf files. One of them has the popouts with the orignal 60.9 k or whatever with data. So I think I just need to get rid of the one update.rpg folders in there.

Am I correct in assuming though that the game willl read from the mods folder first for anything in there before going to vanilla folders?

Got em back! Lesson learned. Luckily I learned lesson to always back up a file...

Another general question and I'll leave ya alone.

I notice when changing things like car skins, etc., that generally we're overwriting the same police car/sherrif car etc. files.

So this means that basically we're restricted to whatever car skin you have loaded for that model at any given time? Can't build a "garage" of seperatlly skinned cars so they are all available?
