What do you think of a P71 as a first car?

That's arguably more of a "suck up" move than buying a CVPI, and can lead to the problems you listed in 'D'. The best way to get on the good side of a police officer is to not break the law. And if you do, don't be an ass****, just own up to what you did, admit you were wrong and that you'll accept the consequences.

Well yeah it ties in with 'D' though it's not really much of a "suck up"... It shows you support police while a CVPI would be alittle too much. There's a major difference though. There's people who support police, and have bumper stickers which are cool & sometimes you can get away with warnings cause of that. And then there's the CVPI people and it doesn't always end great. Some new officers might mistake you as a police imposter or definitely a wanna be. During a ridealong we actually passed someone in a CVPI and it was tricked out and I honestly didn't even think it was civilian. I thought it was Unmarked from the sheriff's fleet. But my officer already came across this person and knew who they were. The only thing you could tell that it wasn't a actual police car was because it didn't have exempt plates. It had antennas, rambar, double spotlights. I think a few things he had were aftermarket and didn't come with the car but he put on it... It kinda just ties in with the possibility of you being harassed cause some civilians & cops may not know your civilian, but might be a police imposter.

I thought about a crown vic for my first car... But honestly with everything it comes with. (Harassment, Danger, holes in the car from wires, and other vehicle faults from it being used all the time) it just wasn't worth it.

If you really, truly plan on getting one & won't listen to anyone then try & get a Captain or Detective's vehicle. Someone who didn't use it as much. Even then so it's interesting. The Major at one of our stations, we used his car one time to go somewhere and it had rust on it, and wasn't the best at handling but that was about it. It didn't have a partition, spotlight or lots of holes since most of the lights were inside. (It was a unmarked)

Most of which I could state was already stated by unr3al. My tips for owning a Crown Victoria are; 1. Don't try to look like a cop. It'll get you nothing but hate and fear. Mainly hate.

  • It depends on what exactly you're getting, and what your driving habits are like. Lets first figure out if you're getting a Ford Crown Victoria, or a retired CVPI. There's a huge difference between

Gotta love a good ol´Caprice, one of the best police vehicles ever used.
