Losing control of character as soon as a pursuit starts -- after Arrest Manager/Traffic Policer updates

I answered my own support query already, but I thought I would document what I discovered here in case any other people run into this problem.

After updating RagePluginHook to 0.37.885.6928, GTA V to v678 and applying the corresponding updates to Arrest Manager 5.8.0.1 by Albo1125 - RPH 0.37 and Traffic Policer 6.6.0.0 by Albo1125 - RPH 0.37, I ran into an issue where as soon as a pursuit starts, I lose control of my character. I am not able to move around or control the character or the vehicle, and am helpless — just watching the AI, now in control of my character, join the pursuit. (Not exactly what I wanted, but just watching with the cinematic camera is quite cool!)

The resolution was to check carefully that all the changes in the new .ini file were copied into my .ini file in the Plugins/LSPDFR folder. I had kept my existing .ini for each of the plugins, thinking that I didn't want to go back to their defaults, and I had not checked to merge any changes. A 'magic constant' called HYDLATHAHIE had changed in these two of Albo's mods.

Once I had carefully merged the changes between the new .ini file's defaults (particularly this HYDLATHAHIE constant) and my .ini files for these plugins, everything was back to normal again.

So, in case anyone else was, like me, not quite following the instructions on what to copy, I hope this helps save some headaches.

As you might guess, I make PeterUCallouts. I love working to bring LSPDFR players the kind of callouts that strike a good balance between realism and fun and are stable & varied!

While I did clearly state that the INI had to be replaced this patch, I have no idea how that made the AI take control over your character! That's quite hilarious

I'm guessing when your easter egg engages, you just Functions.SetCopAsPed() and Functions.AddCopToPursuit() the player? I'm surprised the LSPDFR API lets you do that.

I wonder if it's possible. I've done nothing of the sort though lol

This is happening to me too. I've done nothing but install the mod and update to the latest Rage. I hit Y to accept a call and the AI takes over and doesn't end until the call ends. Every time. Very frustrating.

Any help on how to resolve this? OP's explanation didn't help. The only .ini that I have related to this mod is lspdfr.ini in the lspdfr folder and that only contains 3 lines none of which could be related to this problem.

Hmmm... that's odd indeed that others report this issue that seems to be unrelated.

To be clear, the only change I made between not having this issue and having the issue was updating what I mentioned above:

After updating RagePluginHook to 0.37.885.6928, GTA V to v678 and applying the corresponding updates to Arrest Manager 5.8.0.1 by Albo1125 - RPH 0.37 and Traffic Policer 6.6.0.0 by Albo1125 - RPH 0.37

And fixing the .ini problem made the issue go away again.

I thought initially it might be Safer Chases v1.5 interacting badly with the updated GTA version or the updated Rage Plugin Hook, but removing Safer Chases, I still saw the behaviour.

It seemed like a strong correlation indeed!

It seems like it must reside in LSPDFR's logic though, judging by some of the responses here.

Here is a log of the time I think it was exhibiting this behaviour (didn't timestamp the logs accurately at the time, as I thought I'd fixed it!)

log_takeover.txt

And once fixed:

log_fixed.txt

If anyone wants me to try anything to see if we can accurately reproduce it, let me know.

Apologies for resurrecting a now old thread, but I've done a bit more digging on this weird issue. It has nothing to do with Traffic Policer or Arrest Manager.

It seems that when a pursuit starts, and I am playing as the female SAPR ped (0x9fc7f637, s_f_y_ranger_01), this issue occurs. I have never reproduced the issue with any other player model.
