First Response mod installation issues for GTA IV: EFLC... PLEASE HELP!!

Featured Replies

Hi to all reading this, I am new to the First Response mod. I was able to sucessfully install it one time, then screwed the game up by installing an ELS vehicle without having the ELS mod. Anyways after the installation failed, it said to post the following to this website:

Installation component 'LCPDFRModels' error'd!

at System.String.Insert(Int32 startIndex, String value)

at G17MediaSetupEngine.Installation_Components.tazershit.beginComponent()

at G17MediaSetupEngine.UI.Interface.wizardControl1_SelectedPageChanged(Object sender, EventArgs e)

at G17MediaSetupEngine.UI.Interface.wizardControl1_SelectedPageChanged(Object sender, EventArgs e)

Now what am I to do? What does the above mean? I loved playing the First REsponse mod when I was able to. (Also if anyone knows how to install the ELS mod, but if it involves SparkIV, my SparkIV stops working as soon as I open it)

Well, I have had this problem too, I just didn't install it, By the way can tell, EFLC has not let some people play it with LCPDFR.

after the installation fails? nothing, it doesnt start up. i have un-install EFLC & Re-install it again (this is the 10th time i'm re-installing it)

make sure your EFLC root directory is not read-only.

rjn4 is right, this error is caused when the installer doesn't have permissions to make the necessary modifications to your game files. Run it as administrator and make sure your gta iv folder and the folders and files inside it (in your program files directory) are not set to read only.

I just checked the EFLC.exe (application) & the Read-Only was checked, so I'm unchecking it & going to install the LCPDFR mod now. Standby for results.... (btw anyone know how to install ELS?) <--- that would be a great help too! =D

You need to do that for the entire folder that contains all of your gta iv files so that it applies to all the folders and files within it, particularly the data folder.

And run the installer as administrator by right clicking it.

ok, correct if i am wrong:

1 = un-tick the "data" folder from "Read-Only" as well as the folders & files located in "data"?....ALSO do i need to go into the folders that are located IN "data" & un-tick all of those files as well?

2 = run the LCPDFR mod installer as administrator?

Also run your Gta4 as an administrator once you have installed the mod 2 or it will not load it will just give you a message

the above has nothing to do with this post. i cannot get the mod installed.... it fails to install & the first time I got it to work successfully I did not run it as an administrator & it worked fine.

This has already been mentioned not only by another user on the thread, but as well as it would mention it in the Trouble Shooter when creating a thread (btw, he needs to run the INSTALLER as admin, not the game, he cannot get it installed, yes he needs to run the game as admin as well, but to get it installed first, he must run the installer as admin) there's no need to keep repeating it since it has already been stated Ekalb, it will just clutter the thread.

(But it's appreciated that your at least trying to help).

Run the INSTALLER as Administrator as well, if you get any other errors (And if you already have made sure your directories are not read only) post the error message here.

Sorry I never read it all

Removing read-only protection from a folder should allow you the option to apply the change to all files and folders inside it. But yeah that's essentially what has to be done.

It seems that every time i un-tick "data", give admin rights & then click properties again, "Read-Only" is ticked again....

I ran GTA IV EFLC as administrator & nothing happened. & I was only able to run the FR mod installer after i extracted it to my desktop. someone told me to try 0.91 so im gunna do that

'ticked' and 'filled' check-boxes mean different things. If it is ticked, you have a problem, if it is filled then it may not necessarily mean the files we need are still read only.

Are you running the LCPDFR installer as administrator by right clicking it and selecting run as admin?

If nothing else seems to work for you, you can just select to not install the taser during installation and you won't have this problem.
