Editing the police computer

I was just curious, is there a way i can edit the police computer to the department i use? instead of "LCPD Laptop"

Yeah,why not.Just open the vehicles' .wtd and find the appropriate file.In case of Yak's cars,its something like "mdtscreen".In others you'll see something like "laptop".Just export it and you're set to edit it.Also,don't forget to place a black layer on top of it,with a low opacity value.Hope this helps :)

so i can just edit the laptop like i would a uniform? all i see is a black picture

It likely appears black due to using and edited visualsettings.dat file to make lights brighter. If it wasn't that dark, then all you would have is a large square block of light, and so most modders make them that dark by default.

If you're talking about the in-car texture (not the LCPDFR computer texture), the square is almost certainly not black. Instead, it's probably extremely darkened, but still an LCPD skin in there. You will almost certainly need to darken your stuff a ton to make it look nice. My recommendation would be to lighten it to normal, edit, and darken again.
