Windows 7/Patch/RC 0.95 issues.

Recommended Posts

Hey, fellow LCPD officers!

I seem to be having a problem. My computer is stuck in a seemingly perminant read only state. The read-only box for GTA IV's files is filled in (not checked), and it does not want to remove the 'read only' attribute.

I've tried the attribute command on the command prompt, didn't work.

Tried turning off UAC, nothing.

Tried updating Windows 7 to Service Pack 1, nope.

I even took ownership of the files, and it still wouldn't let me. This has been happening with EVERY FILE on the computer, and has been causing problems for both the LCPDFR install and Patch 1.0.7.0. If it helps, this problem occured after a system restore last night in an attempt to fix GTA IV after losing it's manual and removing ENB.

Are there any computer techies that can help me out with my predicament?

Hi,

thats normal for Windows 7! I didn't find a solution yet.

But you could try to start the LaunchEFLC.exe as an admin (just right click, then choose run as an admin....).

That's normal for Windows 7? Ok, that's bad :C

Thanks for the suggestion, but I do not have EFLC. Just GTA IV.

I had to reinstall it as well because it crashed when getting online activation. Maybe XP is the best OS now. DX

If you find a solution, keep me posted!

Ah yes, GTA IV. Just start the LaunchGTAIV.exe as an admin ;)

Oh, so it forces the folder to lose it's read-only attribute? Interesting. Will try running GTA IV in admin mode after I reinstall it (I have the serial code copied from the revoke license program). Will update if it helps. Seeing as I'm at school right now, the edit will come in later.

Thanks in advance!

Alright, sorry, I just got a bit of an idea. GTA IV is still installing, though.

Suppose other people had this Read-Only problem (which I'm sure a lot do). Would it be possible to make a 'manual install' version of LCPDFR, where you're given the files, and given instructions on what to do with them? I ask this, because even though my computer is on a 'lockdown' sort of thing, it allows me to move files around. There should also be a 'manual' install for 1.0.7.0 as well.

It's just a thought. Will edit this post when I get results. :)

Sorry for posting a new reply here, but editing my post does not work, and going to the full editor causes my web browser to load up a completely white page. (Damn you, Google Chrome!!)

Anyways, back on topic...

Patch 1.0.7.0 went through after reinstalling GTA IV from scratch. I'm starting to think that Read-only wasn't the issue, but rather a problem caused by System Restore. I believe System Restore caused some files to be removed from the directory that was VITAL for both Patch 1.0.7.0 and LCPDFR to find/use correctly to install. Now that I KNOW 1.0.7.0 works, I will try to install LCPDFR. Will get back to you guys if it works. Fingers crossed!

Now I know the edit problem was because the site was going down for maintenance. Derp.

EDIT: LCPDFR now works fine! The game sometimes freezes while on duty, but it usually clears itself up once you wait a bit. I know now that the 'Read-Only' annoyance wasn't the problem, but rather some corruption within GTA IV (Missing files and stuff). Thanks for the suggestions, xDodox, but I seem to have everything sorted out.

Case closed!

I just recently installed GTA IV and LCPD First Response 0.95 RC2-R2. After I start GTA IV and LCPD, I start driving to the station, once I get close to the station, the road disappears, and all I can see is the street lights, people, and the mailboxes and garbage cans. Whats wrong or what can I try to resolve this issue?

looks like you need to upgrade to another graphic card.

I've had disappearing graphics problems, too. All I had to do was adjust the resolution to fix it. However, I recently reinstalled GTA IV with administrative privillages, and that stopped the problem. If you need to reinstall GTA IV, REINSTALL IT IN ADMINISTRATOR MODE.

Oh, and PLEASE do not thread hijack. >:(
