Hi, I've scanned everywhere on this site and all over the web, this is making pull out my hair.

I would like to separate police from sheriff so I don't have city cops driving county deputies vehicles.. so I would very much appreciate help on replacing the sheriff stanier with a CVPI template & skin. For me it's not working..

I go into the mods\x64e.rpf\levels\gta5\vehicles.rpf

I replace the files that I've downloaded (which are sheriff skins) from police.ytd to sheriff.ytd etc

Nothing happens. It shows in my folder that it is replaced, the textures work for police.ytd and police.ytd only.. But I can't convert them over to the sheriff side.

The textures are easy, I just import & replace.. but its like the sheriff files are setup way different then the police files are...

 

Anyways, I'm trying to use the 1999 CVPI template 2.1 from YCA w/ Los Santos County Sheriff liveries for 1999 Ford Crown Victoria (v.1.0) by YCA-RE.

If any one could PLEASE give me a step by step to convert the police.ytd's to the sheriff.ytd's and textures.. I would be soo f****IN appreciative.

Like I said, I can get the skins/textures/cvpi to work for regular police.ytd's.. just not sheriff.ytd's

 

 

Make sure you rename the police.ytd/.yft files to sheriff.ytd/yft (plus the _hi.yft/+.ytd).

Then go into OpenIV and go to (Update/x64/dlcpacks/patchday3ng/dlc.rpf/x64/levels/gta5/vehicles.rpf)

Replace the default sheriff files with your sheriff files.

Let me know how this works.

I've tried adding new skins and new vehicles, I gave up, like you said it's not noob friendly, It's well above my head that's for sure. Glad you got it though

Maybe I can help you, what's your problem?

If you're wanting a specific vehicle in a different slot, for exxample if you want to install the Crown Vic in a sheriff position but it's for an LSPD position, just rename the file, so it might be originally for police2 rename it to sheriff (or whatever the name for the sheirff cruiser is).

The fact the game updates,I then read posts about using a mod folder then I see comments about removing the mod folder because of crashes lol.

The mods folder doesn't need removing, you just need to create a new one as all your mods in there uses the Updates folder.. which needs replacing with the new one from your directory. 

It's not that much of an effort once your get to know what you're doing. plus the mods folder is worth it since you don't need to backup your files as you're not modding any vanilla files.

This couldn't be more accurate. 

It's very overwhelming at first. But once you get the hang of it, it's like clockwork.
