1998 VW Citi Golf (Mk1) [WIP]

Featured Replies

I have made a Citi Golf model before as many may have seen in the downloads section; however I failed while making it, it was only my 2nd scratch made model, since then I have gained much more experience through making the Bearcat (don't fear, the Bearcat is still being worked on) and I am in the process of modeling another but better Citi Golf model, the previous one was the 2004 facelift version, the one I am currently doing will be the 1998 model featuring the old style taillights, bumpers and dash.

I understand there are many people that dislike this vehicle but understand one thing, it is and was the cheapest and most reliable vehicle on the SA market for 25 years long, in South Africa, this 31 year old car is considered a legend and possibly the most respected car by many people in the country.

That all being said, the new model that I am busy working on is much better in terms of shape, much smoother and curved than the previous unaccurate model I made.

Nice one. That car brings up a lot of memories  I have a question though. What's the difference between the MK1 and this MK2?

The Mk1 Golf was the first ever Golf to be produced, the Mk2 was just the next series and had a wider body, bumpers, wheels, engine etc. In total, the Mk1 was just a older version of the Mk2 that was kept alive here in SA but renamed to the Citi Golf. The modern Citi Golfs such as the 2004 facelift were more modernized than the older Mk2.

Every time you refer to "SA",San Andreas flashes in my mind lol

The VW Citi is a VW Golf Mk1, the Mk2 is just the next version after that of the Golf that got released, it has it's differences. You can go to netcarshow.com and compare both.
