Suitable replacements for Yankton "oldpolice" cars?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, first post here....

I'm just curious if there is any suitable vehicle replacements for the "oldpolice" models?  I think the Yankton Rancher only has one light available, a blue rotating light?  The Yankton Cruiser has more lights available, but I'm not sure how many.actual lights are available/mapped.

I was hoping for some replacements branded LSPD, or more/different unmarked units to add into the game for LSPDFR.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, the "sirensettings" can be changed by adding a replacement carvariations entry to one of the dlc meta files, so that isn't an obstacle.

I'd say that Lundy's 1st Gen Stainer can stand in quite well for a police cruiser from 2004, though either Stainer would technically work, and you could just use both of them. The only issue is that you'd have to make texture and model edits if you wanted snow on them.

Not looking for snow, I can live with the cutscenes with LSPD cars sitting.  I didn't know you can edit the carvariations.  Any tutorials how to do this?  I might just load the 1st gen Stanier and something else boxy (if I can find it).

Thanks for the info though, I'll start looking up what the carvariations things that needs to be done to replace the sirens.

Take a look in the tutorials section for the Adding New Emergency Vehicles thread. The new carvariations entries will take precedence over the original files even for the original vehicles.

FYI, "SirenSettings" controls emergency light settings, and siren settings (whether it has one or not), but has nothing to do with sounds. The specific siren sounds are tied to the audiohash line in vehicles.meta, which controls ALL vehicle sounds.

Looking into all of the carvariations.  I haven't found one that controls the police cruiser.  I'm hoping to just copy/paste that and rename it "oldpolice1" or "oldpolice2", that way the 1st Gen Stanier uses the "old" lightbar that the police and sheriff cruisers uses and it should just match, but I haven't found any files for that car yet.  I might go to sleep and look at this with fresh eyes tomorrow....er....today.

Well, the original vehicle carvariations file is still an encrypted file, but as I said, if you add a new entry with an original model name, the game will use that instead.

Also, if you're going to use a Stainer, sirensettings will need to be set to 13 to work correctly. This won't give the Yankton lightbar or anything, just make the lights work as they should.

Ah, took a night's rest, re-read some things and figured out what I did wrong.  Managed to get the 1st Gen LSPD cruiser in there, and I souped up an all-white LSSD cruiser with amber lights (used the lifeguard sirensetting 10) like this real life example.  Only bug is the lightbar likes to pop off in real hard collisions, but I guess I can live with that.
