Can't start game normally (through steam) or with rage plugin

Featured Replies

The version of RAGE Plugin Hook you're using.

A: I'm using the latest rage plugin hook (as I downloaded it today)

The game version (Right click GTA5.exe, click Properties, and check the "File version" under the Details tab).

A: 1.0.393.4

Whether using the Steam or retail version of the game.
A: steam version

The steps you have already attempted. Including the ones above.
A: I downloaded the latest virtual studio (in fact, the rage hook) prompted me to download it.

Other info:
-I'm on windows 10.
-I can't even start GTAV on its own, i get a crash and don't even see a start screen. I get a :Launcher error, code 15: The game was not launched via the Steam client". But I can't start it with steam either. It just tells me "GTA has stopped working".
-The game was bought through steam.

-I have tried disabling antivirus.

-i have tried running it as admin.

thanks for any help
