Trouble installing LSPDFR

Featured Replies

Hi,

This is my first time attempting to install a mod of any kind, and honestly I'm really struggling with it right now!  I watched Jeff Favignano's tutorial video about how to install it, and tried to make sure I had everything downloaded that I needed to run the game.  However, whenever I click on the RAGEPluginHook.exe file to run the game, it brings up the RAGE logo, but continues to sit there for a few minutes before telling me that it's stopped responding.

Attached is a side-by-side view of what my files look like in comparison to Jeff's (which worked in his tutorial video).  I noticed that I was missing a couple things, and some things have changed names since this video, but it seems to me that I have an almost identical file to his.

Other details:

-I'm trying to install version 0.2b (released today. 7-26-15)

-I have an Intel i3 CPU 520 (2.93GHz), 6GB RAM, and 1TB Hard Drive. (I realize my specs are less than average, however I don't have any problem running GTA without the mods)

Thanks so much for any help/advice with this issue.  Like I said, I'm new to all this, but would really like to make it work!

~Luke

Hello there - Welcome, and thanks for trying out LSPDFR. We require all members to read the provided ReadMe and User Documentation before getting support. Please keep in mind that this is a beta version of LSPDFR - we cannot guarantee that all issues have been resolved.

You can find the user manual in your LSPDFR Download folder. If you still have questions after reading the User Documentation, review the LSPDFR FAQ; http://www.lcpdfr.com/forums/topic/51162-lspdfr-frequently-asked-questions/

Please do so now and return to this topic when this is done and do the following;

  • Give a clear, detailed description of the problem.
  • Explain any circumstances surrounding the problem.
  • State what solutions you have tried.
  • Post the RagePluginHook.log in a spoiler tag.
  • Include as much information as possible.
  • Post your system specifications.
  • Post what other mods you are using.
  • Post a screenshot of your GTA V Game directory.

Failure to follow these instructions may result in topic closure.

Ok,

-I read the user documentation & ReadMe.
-I gave the best explanation I could above.
-I explained the circumstances the best I know how.
-I have tried restarting my computer & made sure that GTA will run with my specs.
-I don't know where to find the Rage Log. (Again, I'm a noob!)
-I've included as much information as I believe I can.
-I posted my system specs above.
-I'm not using any other mods.
-I posted a screenshot of my game directory.

I thought I did all this before posting, but if I overlooked something I apologize.  Thanks.

From your screenshot, you haven't gotten far enough to generate a RagePluginHook.log. How long have you let it sit there when it stops responding?

Have you tried temporarily removing  other mods besides LSPDFR? ScriptHookV.dll, dinput8.dll, all .asi files?

What happens if you run the game normally first, then when it has loaded, run the RAGE Plugin Hook.exe?

It sits there for about 5-10 seconds, then it says it has stopped responding.  I just removed those specific files that you suggested, but I'm still having the same results.

Good idea, but that didn't work either.  I tried running the game and starting the RPH both on the main game screen, as well as in the single player mode.

Here is an updated screenshot of what files I currently have in my GTA folder.  Should I try deleting more? I'm not sure what to do at this point.  My computer runs the actual game just fine, so it shouldn't be an issue of whether my computer can support it.  Thanks again for the help!

It looks like you've done everything correctly. Did you copy your GTA5 folder? Is this the default install path?

I'm not sure how to determine the default install path, but yes, I copied my GTA5 folder so that I had a backup in case this went wrong.  Could that possibly be the problem?  Maybe it's confused because I have two folders?

Yes, if you do that, you have to update the registry key for the InstallFolder

Ok, I'll give that a try.  Can you explain how to do that? I have no clue.  Thanks!

Click Start, in the search box type regedit, right click on regedit and run as admin

Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Expand the SOFTWARE

Expand the Wow6432Node

Expand the Rockstar Games

Depending on which version of GTA5 you have, left click on either GTAV or Grand Theft Auto V

On the right pane you'll see a key called InstallFolderSteam or InstallFolder. Double click that key and put the correct path there.

Alternatively to doing all of this, you can rename your Grand Theft Auto V folder (rename the original Grand Theft Auto V.original) and then rename the copied folder to Grand Theft Auto V. Either way, you're going to have to update this registry key or folder name to swap between the two copies.
