I've used the xbox 360 controller when playing with the mod. It worked fine for me.
Some of the important controls for the mod, i.e. backup menu can be accessed with the controller.

Yep, you can. RageHook doesn't edit any of the default keymaps, so you can use the controller as you would in the normal game.
