Police system improvement would be possible?

Featured Replies

Hi,

well, I wonder since I play GTA V, if the cop system could be improved to IV's one.

Yes, because...in GTA 5, you could commit a crime in one place, in Los Santos for example...well even the Blaine County Police Department would search for you!

If you remember well, in GTA IV, we had to escape a searching circle where PATROLLING (patrolling police officers aren't comming in V, for no apparent reason O_O) cops spawned. We had to dodge theme to outside the circle, and then we were almost safe, one or two cop cars spawning in the traffic outside...
But now, if you were to flee in space, cops would also spawn right in front of you, preventing you to flee!

Because if you noticed, cops systematically spawn right in front of you, in any place you could run, even 5 km away from the crime you committed, even if there is no more patrolling cops in GTA V, they just spawn in front of you and prevent you escaping the pursuit.

So now, what I'm wondering is...could we hope, the older cop escape system from GTA IV or will we have to do with V's?

Thanks for reading!

Don´t quote me on this, but I´m pretty sure changing the way cops respond is impossible to change as it is hardcoded into the game.

Oh, it's possible. Not necessarily remotely practical, but it's absolutely possible for a mod to change hardcoded stuff.

That said, the IV system made less sense. Police stopped looking for you after you'd left the search area for long enough. How, exactly, did they know you left the search area? I mean, a remotely sensible system would make 5-star wanted levels permanent (yeah, you killed 20 cops but now that you hid for 24 ingame hours they don't care?), but V's at least makes more sense than IV's.

Also, I'm not sure the IV system had "patrolling" cops -- I suspect escaping a wanted level had you against spawned cops after you left the search area. Cops spawning in front of you, while annoying, happens really only if you're staying on the same road too long (which makes some amount of sense, and absolutely makes sense from a gameplay perspective, because it forces you to actually evade instead of just driving fast). As for the sheriff caring if you commit a crime in LS, that makes no less sense than the LSPD searching for you -- police actually coordinate this sort of stuff, and if the LSPD launches a manhunt the LSSD will be involved as well.

Well...ok, if it's too difficult to change this then I'll deal with the present one...

Well, in V it's like all the police of the country is looking for you for a murder or a fight or a car thief, while in IV, if they didn't see you comitting a crime, well they had to look somewhere first, like "he couldn't go this far!" .

I think that's what I meant, if you left the searching area, normally patrolling cops would see you and engage a pursuit. This is where it makes sense, becaus in V, police never patrols the city, they begin to spawn just to chase you...

In fact, I know staying too long on the same road is not a good thing, but what happens quite often is that...I see a cop SPAWNING (and not even arriving, he spawns on the radar, it was rare for the LCPD) in front of me, I begin to turn left..."wait, another cop spawning right there?"
I turn right then. "WHAT! LET ME ESCAPE A BIT, FUCK IT!". Because yes, behind me is the one I was escaping so... x)

Same thing, when you're hiding somewhere, and the cops didn't see you hiding there, strangely they all stop searching and begin searching the area...But how do they know I'm especially hiding there? :/

Yeah, well...in fact that, ingame, does not disturb me that much, it was more for an illustration perspective...
Two different police teams in one game varies it well, so I won't judge it bad ^^

Is it possible to make them actually patrol the streets then? It would be a nice addition to LSPDFR.

In IV they spawn too, they don't arrive from other places. It really makes some sense because shutting all the roads near the suspect's known location is a reasonable tactic.

What pisses me off in GTA V is LSSD patrolling off-road paths. How come on those dirt tracks spawn cruisers and Noose? Cruisers ain't suited for off-road patrol at all (however with GTA V idiotic handling that makes no difference). Noose units just don't belong on those mountain tracks. I'd love to see Park Rangers spawning on mountain trails and LSSD and Noose only following you down there.
