@topic: the idea to configure your backup is indeed a nice one, but I think it would be most realistic if variations of the backup would arrive...

like 2-man squad cars with one officer carrying a shotgun, in the next car one has the m4 and in the next one both carry their sidearms etc.

My idea from the original post was to make the weapons cops have customizeable, so you could choose which ones they have and which ones they wont. EnterName could choose to have cops with m4s, pistols, and shotguns, while you could choose to have cops with shotguns and pistols. Also, almost every PD in the US now has at least a few patrol officers with AR-15s because of cases like the North Hollywood Shootout, and theres a lot of departments with AR-15s on standard issue with one in every patrol car.

My idea would be to have them like vanilla noose, where out of every so many officers, a certain percent would carry one of the weapons you selected..
