Driver: San Francisco

Incoming wikipedia copypasta!

Plot: The game takes place a few months after the events of Driv3r. It is revealed that both Tanner and Jericho survived the shootout in Istanbul. In the game's trailer, it is revealed that since then, both men have recovered and Jericho has escaped to San Francisco, while Tanner has pursued him there. Jericho is shown being transported in the back of a prison truck, but manages to escape with a vial of acid hidden within his mouth. He overpowers the guards, and hijacks the truck. Tanner and Tobias witness this from Tanner's car, pursuing Jericho as he causes havoc on the streets of the city. Tanner ends up in front of Jericho in an alleyway, and gets pushed in front of a tractor trailer. A hard crash occurs, putting him into a coma. The game will take place in Tanner's coma dream

The Wii version will have a different storyline. The storyline will be about Tanner's early years as a police officer. Tanner will be out to avenge the death of his partner by going undercover. The magazine confirms that Tobias Jones, and Solomon Caine will appear in the game.

Gameplay:

A new feature is Shift, which allows Tanner to shift from a car into another car and continue the mission. The Shift option is not unlimited however, so the player has to recharge the Shift meter by doing things such as power slides, big jumps and driving into oncoming traffic. Shift must also be upgraded from time to time, so the player can shift into more distant cars and other parts of the city. One of the inspirations for Shift comes from Google Earth. The game is also being described as a "return to the roots" to the series as the ability to get out of the car, which was introduced in Driver 2, has been removed as the developers felt that too many games have this kind of feature already and "it wasn't desirable for us to just copy that exact mechanic.".With Shift, the player can also start missions. Using Shift, however, is not obligated, so the player can finish the game without shifting into any other car. The film director mode, which was absent from Parallel Lines, will also return, and players can share their videos online. The game will run at 60 frames per second

COLLECTOR'S EDITION

Driver San Francisco will get collector's edition, wich provides a full map of the games San Francisco, a replica of Tanners Dodge Challenger R/T, Mini comic book, Mass chase gamemode (Escape the whole police force of SF), three cars wich will be avalible from the beginning, Aston Marting D85 '63, Lamborghini Miura '72, Shelby Cobra 427 '66 (unlike in the normal copy), Another gamemode, Relay Rase (Change cars between laps to win the race), Russian Hills Racers (Race against 3 super cars in the very district), Taxi (Race against other taxis in downtown), also a rare Sounds of San Francisco Vinyl of the games soundtrack will be avalible, and will be supplied randomly with the CE packages.

Cars:

For the first time in the series, the game will include over 130 fully damageable licensed vehicles ranging from buggies, muscle cars and sport cars including Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Ruf Automobile, Dodge, Shelby, Volkswagen, Pagani, DeLorean and Bugatti.

You can't get out? :( Then I spare my money to NFS The Run, and download Driver SF. That's what I do if I cant get out of the car.

  • I can't fucking wait :D it's gonna be awwwwwwesome

  • To be honest, the game looks like crap. Generic game play, botched story line, repetitive theory. This game will get about a 6 - 6.5 on rating. It seems like a majority of game developers these day

I've been looking forward to this so much but no more getting out of cars? Who cares if its used everywhere, I want to walk around too D:

I know. But like they said, they're going back to the roots.

To be honest, the game looks like crap. Generic game play, botched story line, repetitive theory. This game will get about a 6 - 6.5 on rating. It seems like a majority of game developers these days think a good game is a game that has a story line made by a 12 year old, is Racing or FPS, and has lots of unrealistic physics.

Saints Row 2 was an exception because the whole game was a comedy meant to laugh your ass off at. But this game, Driver:SF, looks to be another Toddler Type action racer that someone between the age 15-50 would get bored of in 12 seconds of game play.

I have seen this way too often. Look at NFS:HP (Next Gen). Its poor physics and weak story/gameplay ruined it. If you like D:SF thats fine but thats just my .02

Doesen't look like really poor physics, also they're not meant to be THAT real, since the handling is trying to be made hollywood car chase stylished so it's easy to pull of cool 180's, slides around corner with american muscle. About the generic gameplay, i have NEVER seen gameplay like that yet on some of the racing games (talking about shift here) it's not really generic. Joining side missions by shift, using it as a tool like shifting into 18 wheeler and crashing it into the getaway car, and so on. It doesen't have the best story but it's really good enough, it's not the worst. There's some really worse stories in games when you start looking them up. I really yet wouldn't try to prefict the ratins since ALOT people do like this, it even got the best racing game title on E3. All of the side missions, hidden cars, movie icons, story, multiplayer, film director, stunts... It's going to be rather big for a racing games unlike some shetty NFS: HP . I played it and to be honest, i didn't really like it. The handling was really off, i still don't understand how good grip the cars do have, lol. Some of the cars were cool though. Also it didn't have much to do in SP, it was too short. Multiplayer was kinda fun when i played it with friend but i got bored to it after few rounds.

  • 2 weeks later...

Last one i played was Driv3r (or Driver 3...) and it was actually kinda good, but i don't think I'm gonna give this one a try.

Because if you can't get out, and it's more a race-like police game, i already have NFS:HP.

Of course it's about driving. Game title anyone? Driver?

Yeah i know of course lol. But in the older ones you could get out which made it cooler. If you can't in this one, then it's just another driving game. (Driver yeah)

True that. But it's just better this way, going back to the roots. Giving back some features back which made driver, such unique experience back in the days. Allowing them to focuse on the cars, handling, enviroment and ai seems to have seriously payed off. This is exactly what the real driver is and should always have been. Re-creating your favourite car chase movies, making your own or just drivin' around.
