The LAPD use the Federal Signal SmartSiren

I thought they used a Touchmaster? The wail has the "hang" right before the wond-down, and the yelp sounds like one from a TM pitched down.

Nor is it a touchmaster.....its the Unitrol Siren

That's literally calling a Crown Vic a Ford.

Unitrol is the manufacturer of that particular siren linked. Touchmaster is the model.

LAPD vehicles utilizing the Code 3 MX7000 lightbar (and some older halogen slicktop setups) use the Federal Signal Touchmaster, usually the TM4 model specifically.  The switch to the Smart Siren was made with the purchase of the Fed Sig Arjents and newer LED slicktop setups.  LAPD still has a number of older vehicles in service that use the Touchmaster and MX7000, and it's pretty cool to see and hear an older unit rolling code 3 along with a newer unit, the difference in siren (and light setup) is pretty distinct.

Ok, i found an unitrol siren which is pretty cool and, yes, is the same as the one in the video (but it has HILO instead of prty)...i think i'll use Audacity to take the yelp and prty sounds from the video (because despite my nickname i hate HI-LO sirens on american vehicles)
