Not sure how many of you are into aviation (I am...alot) but saw this article today.

 

The Air Force has announced the next replacement for the two 747-200s that currently serve as Air Force One. The current 747-200s will be retired in 2017 and replaced by the 747-8 (is anyone surprised?). I am certainly glad that they went with the 747 over the A380 (even though I knew they wouldn't go for the Airbus); I think an A380 in Air Force One colors would look horrible. Not to mention the A380 is just a weird looking aircraft in general.

I Am not surprised at all. I Suspected after retiring the current they would stay near Boeing. They seem to favor Boeing and i do not disagree with them at all. I Love the 747 series with a passion.

Sure, The Airbuses are nice, But they would not go with the air force one colors or design as you mentioned.

(And yes, I Am also very interested in aviation. I Play many sims as well.)

Yep, Boeing makes excellent aircraft. Not to say Airbus isn't a good aircraft manufacturer either, I just like Boeings better. I like the A380, it is a good aircraft and I don't have anything against it other than, in my opinion, it looks ugly as shit.

It makes sense that they would choose the 747, but I like the look of the A380. It has a space shuttle look to it.

i'm stoked about it :D the presidential plane is bad ass and represents all of us. i'm tickled to death we finally get a new one..no cost is too high to protect our leader
