France: a video clip to fight against jihad/ISIS

Featured Replies

3 weeks after the terrorist attacks in Paris, the Ministry of the Interior launched, tuesday, a video clip to sensitize the crowd to the jihadist propaganda and enrollment. Publicated on www.stop-djihadisme.gouv.fr the day of a wave of arrests to dismantle a jihadist die in the small city of Lunel, the video clip completes the arsenal put in place by the government to fight against the terrorist threat and deter new departures towards Syria and Iraq, where around 1200 french people are linked to jihadist dies.

Using the ultra-polished style of the video clips broadcasted by ISIS to defend its cause, and its anxious music, the staging of this official campain changes between colours and victorious pictures used by ISIS for its propaganda, military parade, joyful manifestations of ISIS fighters, laudatory Facebook profiles and then, in black and white, a very harsh truth: murder, beheading, bloodless civilians, public executions of strangers who want to come back in their homelands to flee the violence of the combats.

"Look for paradise, find Hell", that is the message that this campain tries to give us.

Here is the video, be careful, it might contain graphic content, viewer discretion is advised.

Here I'll put the times where a french text appear and give the translation:

0:14: "Hi, things you like are cool, are you interested to you what is happening in Cham right now? If you have questions, don't hesitate, the truth is over there, it's time to leave! If you want more info just give me your phone number, I have friends over there who are fighting, I put you two in contact"

0:23: "They tell you: "Sacrifice yourself besides us, you will defend a fair cause." "

0:33: "In reality: You will find hell on Earth and will die alone, far from your home."

0:44: "They tell you: come and start a family with our heroes." "

0:55: "In reality: You will raise your children in war and terror."

1:05: "They tell you: "Join us and come help Syrian children." "

1:16: "In reality: You will be complicit of the massacre of civilians."

1:26: "They tell you: "You live in a world of impure misbelievers, the truth is here." "

1:36: "In reality: As only truth, you will discover horror and deception."

1:47 to the end: "The jihadist enrollment speeches make victims every day. #stopjihadism"

What are your thoughts about this kind of official campain? Personally I find it quite great, it could sensitize more people than boring speeches from politicians.

I like the idea, but they probably could have gone a bit more over the edge with the realities. Show them all what true, visceral combat looks like.

Agreed - could've scared people a bit more to make it more effective.

That's actually the main reaction coming from the social networks. I think they wanted to keep it clean, maybe to point out the fact that they are barbaric and the rest of the world isn't?

Or they could have asked people to just search ISIS on Liveleak. Lol
