Fresh GTA IV Install Does Not Launch

Featured Replies

Hello,

For Christmas, I received an SSD to install my OS on. So what I did was wipe my 1TB HDD and re-installed windows on the SSD. All of my games were obviously gone and I had to re-install them. After I finished installing GTA (disk version) on my HDD (E: Drive) , I installed the patch and that was it. I double click on my GTA and the disk icon appears and then goes away quickly. After that, nothing happens. I have not has this issue and I was wondering if anyone here has had this problem. I have Googled this issue and none of the proposed solutions have helped.

Thanks!

did  you use windows vista service pack 2 and title update 1.0.7.0 do you install gta4 the right way

I run mine in windows vista service pack 2 it works good

What the hell are you on about?

There is no need to install 1.0.7.0 to run the game.

Have you tried running the game in administrator mode? Oh and also, can you please take a screenshot of your installation directory for me?

I found the issue! I was missing xlive.dll. The new problem is that xlive.dll disables online functions. I need to find an alternative to this. I tried dsound.dll but my game does not launch. Something is not right. :wallbash:
