GTA IV not starting with scripts

Featured Replies

So, I just finished building my own PC with the specs:

Processor:
AMD Quad core A8-6500 @4.1GHz
Motherboard:
ASUS A58M-E FM2+ (M-ATX,DDR3,USB 2.0,3GB/s)
Memory:
8GB Kingston Dual DDR3 1600mhZ
Graphics card:
2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX760
Hard Drive:
1TB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s HDD 7200RPM 32MB Cache
Power Supply:
Corsair 450W Power Supply
Cooling:
Super Quiet 22dBA Triple Copper Heatpipe AMD CPU cooler.
OS:
Windows 8

Which should be great for running GTA.
However once I started installing mods I then had problems. The car mods, weapon mods and sound files could be modded without a problem. However once I installed LCPDFR and ELS it did not work. I have scripthook, ASI loader and Xliveless in my GTA directory. I also re-installed GFWL. So, what is the problem. Does anyone know?

Yeah. Is that the file named xlive.dll?

If it is, then I've got it

it's a replacement of that. Did you install the xlive.dll file of was it already in your directory when you installed it?

Do you mean did I replace it? I believe I did. I will do it again though.

Yes, that's what i meant.

If you did.. then that's your problem. you're running two ASI loader, xlive and dsound. you only need one. just remove the 'dsound.dll' file and hopefully it should work =)

You can only use 1 ASI loader. Remove either Dsound.dll or Xlive.dll

Oh right. I will take out Dsound and see if that works.

I took out Dsound and it still did not work. The launcher cam on the screen for a little while longer this time, however it still failed to start.

Re-install your GTA game and use dsound instead of xliveless.dll

Ok, i will re-install. If it works I will reply back in a few hours. If it doesn't work, then I will do the same.

Can I not just take out liveless and put Dsound back in?

You could, however i'm not sure if it'll work since xliveless disables multiplayer and changes the location of your savegames.. so switching them might cause problems.

It won't cause any real problems to be honest. I would try switching the ASI Loaders. Also, is your game patched to the latest version?

Sorry I took a while to reply, Ive been quite busy. What I will do is switch the ASI loaders so that Dsound is back in and I will check what version of the game I'm running. I will reply back soon to inform you guys.

Yeah, I saw that too. But I get the problem even as admin.

If I do a re-install of GTA would you be happy to guide me through the modding process? Such as getting the scripts in. Vehicles, sounds and textures I can do fine. But would you be happy to help with the scripts?
