Game crashes w/ no error messages

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've recently been playing my gta iv with lcpdfr and for some reason for the better part of 2 days it has been crashing me without any error messages given. I have mods installed and i know they shouldnt be affecting the game. The game loads past the character art and when its starting a new game or loading a save it just crashes on me without errors and its frustrating. Ive tested it with just the base install at the latest version and it works just fine.

Somebody help me!

list of mods installed:

vehicle pack: LCPD ELs Pack (patch4)

Peds: Default Peds

Weapons: Default

Radar: Default

ElS V8

Trainer v6.5

LCPDFR 1.0C

it could be literally anything. the mods you have installed most likely aren't causing the issue if you have been playing fine. did you change any car models? did you include a non-els car? i had a noose car parked in the save spot on my game then i went and tried to install a new noose car through open IV. when i restarted the game it crashed. i had to return the noose car that was in my saved game before it would restart. just try to remember any small changes you may have made in last two days. good luck :(

There should be errors in the even logs, for both Windows itself and other miscelanous logs in the directory.  Please post all log files, along with your GTA IV version and computer specifications.

It is imperative that you include detailed information about any problems you face.

To start with:

  • Make sure you aren't using a crack - We don't support cracks
  • Update GTA IV to 1.0.7.0 (the latest version of the game, or 1.1.2.0 for EFLC) - This sometimes fixes a wide variety of issues
  • Make sure that you run the game as an administrator.
  • Make sure that your GTA IV root folder (and every subdirectory) is not set to "read-only"
  • Ensure that ScriptHook.dll, ScriptHookDotNet.asi and Dsound.dll OR Xlive.dll are in the GTA IV ROOT folder
  • Ensure that there is a folder titled 'LCPDFR' in the ROOT GTA IV folder.
  • Check that all the above files exist, if they do not, reinstall LCPDFR with the MANUAL installation.
  • Ensure that you are using up to date versions of every LCPDFR dependency and LCPDFR itself.
  • Install these: .Net Framework 4.5, Microsoft Visual C++ Redist 2012

I have the game up to date 1.0.7.0 (its the steam version)

I used to use cracks but dont anymore

I do run the game as admin and it still gives me the same damn errors

it isnt set to read only. Ive made it so that whole folder isnt read only

i have the scripthook, scripthoondotnet  and dsound in the directory

i have done the manual install several times and it still receives an error

i am using 1.0c so i know its the latest version

since my pc runs windows 8 it already has net frameworks 4.5 in there as standard and visual c++ redist 2012

As already stated, you need to post the log files and system specifications for anyone to help you.  The problem is problably ELS; It can be problematic.  Try:

  • Disabling ELS AI and any cruise lights in the vehicle configuration files,
  • And setting compatibility of "LaunchGTAIV.exe" and "GTAIV.exe" to Windows Vista.

That can be untrue, so try to install them anyway.

I say if you are getting about 30mins before a crash with those mods thats about normal, that might just be me tho.  GTA 4 doesnt like to be heavily modded
