  • Holy shit this sounds great. I absolutely adored Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy, and if this is similar, count me in!

Does anyone else think James Gordan is very similar to Cole Phelps from L.A. Noire? They look and sort of act the same. And are both the honest cop in a pretty corrupt police department

  • I agree, Although that's why i said you'll have to forget everything you learnt from the other Batman media.. The creators have re-written the characters back story so everything has changed, whether

So theres no time setting basically, its whatever time setting you want it to be

Yup, There is the old cars which could suggest it is set in the 70's, the cellphones which suggest the early 2000's and then the building which look very modern.. So it could be up to the viewers to decide.

there is so many different style of things that it's hard to actually give a time setting, a few people have said it's set in the 70's, Ben McKenzie stated it's modern day.. then the creator said there is no time setting (which i just learnt) so i don't think anybody knows what setting it is.. which is brilliant because anything can happen.

Yeah, the only resemblance GCPD has with NYPD is the city it's based on.. Gotham City has always been based upon New York City.

just remember that GCPD is fictional, so it doesn't represent any kind of Law Enforcement.. plus think of it as a whole new department.. Like the LAPD, NYPD, MDPD etc.. they all have different styles to make their department unique. GCPD isn't meant to look like any other department apart from what they want it to look like.

Actually, uniforms and badges remind of NYPD a lot. But my only point was that NYPD blue is just a bit better from an aesthetics point of view.

My guess is, that you need to forget everything you have learnt during different Batman media.

Fine with me! The only thing I think Harvy Dent was more realistically portrayed in the movie...

The only character that hasn't changed is Bruce Wayne, they kept his backstory how it was when Batman was first created.

Well, it's over for now.

I liked how Alfred gave them hell. That's the British spirit! :D And I was kinda curious why did they let Gordon walk away so easily. I mean in russia a cop fires a round in a vehicle owned by an important guy he gots fired in a second and faces criminal charges in another. In a corrupt city like Gotham, after being accused of shooting a millionaire?..

keep forgetting that spoiler thing

WARNING! Only open my Spoiler note if you have seen the latest episode of Gotham, Which is Episode 10 titled "LoveCraft", it may contain spoilers since i've discussed major parts about the episode. open at your own risk!

Alfred always gives the bad guys hell.. especially when they enter Wayne Manor xD

But, i guess the Mayor called it a suicide, because if it was a murder, then there would be a lot of media attention, Gordon would be fired (because it was his gun).. And if Gordon was interviewed he might have told the truth, which would've been bad because having a bunch of assassins running around a city would've been bad.

Although.. the Mayor would've given him hell and got a kick out of sending Gordon of to Arkham (because let's face it.. Who would want to work there?). But to be honest, i think it would work better for the series if Gordon was sent to Arkham and not fired from the GCPD, since now it opens up a whole range of storylines relating with Arkham.. if he was fired then nothing much would've come out of it story-line wise.

The way I see it he's already fired, I don't think a prison or asylum is something guarded by the city police.

However you're right, there's no opportunity for a criminal prosecution unless the mayor will call it a murder which will bring nasty consequences.

We just got the episode where

Gordon tries to arrest Falcone and the mayor for conspiracy against the Wayne case. It's mostly about an assassin who works for Falcone, who shoots Gordon twice inside the GCPD precinct. One scene showed a modern American car (Might be a Chevy or Ford) along the usual 70's stuff. When Gordon tries to arrest Falcone, Harvey agrees to help Gordon, saying that he's probably dead anyway. When they go there Falcone says he has Gordon's girlfriend and when Gordon finds out he does have her, him and Harvey drop their weapons. Falcone then lets Gordon live, to which Gordon says "whats the catch". Falcone says "Go before I change my mind". At the end of the episode, Penguin meets Falcone and it is revealed that the whole thing was planned. Falcone gave the job of killing Penguin to Gordon, as Penguin knew Gordon wouldn't kill him. Then Penguin came back to Gotham and infiltrated the Marone family, giving information about their operations to Falcone. This is why, that halfway through the episode, when Marone is willing to give Penguin to Falcone, Falcone lets him keep it, at the cost of some real estate. Next episode shows a masked person who has 4 men in suits with masks beating Gordon up, and the masked man says "Let the games begin".

I'm thoroughly enjoying Gotham and am surprised it came to the UK so quickly.
