I use a laptop. A gaming one though, only because I needed it for school and the portability of course. But, if you can, get a desktop. I paid $1,300 for my laptop..that would've built me a bad ass PC rig. I would also listen to ineseri. He's very wise!

Wouldn't say wise, just seen other posts :P The thing is, laptops are good for office work etc. Gaming laptops really don't exist. Those who are labeled as gaming laptops are often heavily overpriced.

All advice is appreciated, my only trouble is I'm always on the move and don't necessarily want a laptop for pure gaming but have the ability to play titles such as gta and mods such as LCPDFR occasionally. I would love to build a computer but with moving around a lot it's hard.

I run on a laptop with similar specs. Its not a gaming laptop but can run GTA IV pretty well on low settings. Its not speedy but not all too laggy. Tips if you do buy are

  • Move all graphic settings to low. (Play with your settings and configure them to your liking. the lower settings will be better most likely.
  • Turn off clip capture
  • Keep your laptop plugged in while playing. This will make it a bit faster.
  • Disable any services that are not needed.
  • Keep mods to a minimum.
  • Close all other programs that are running.
  • Keep your laptop cool

If you have any questions for me regarding these bullets, let me know.

I have found two laptops that I'm contemplating purchasing, but wanted people's opinions. I am not a hardcore gamer and I'm always on the move (that's why I'm getting a laptop and not building a pc). I'm looking to play LCPDFR occasionally at a decent level of gameplay. I have these two options:

Number 1:

2.5 GHz Intel Core i5-4200M (Haswell)

8GB of 1600 MHz DDR3L RAM

750GB 7200 rpm Hard Drive

NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M Graphics (2GB)

Price: $849.99

Number 2:

2.5 GHz Intel Core i5-4200M (Haswell)

8GB of DDR3L RAM

750GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive

NVIDIA GeForce GT 820M Graphics (2GB)

15.6" HD Antiglare LED-Backlit Display

Price $689.99

The only difference I can see is the graphics, 840m and 820m, the question I ask, is that is it worth the extra money?

Any help appreciated.
