Nice video, but that is like only a select few of what Security Forces do. You should make a video showing more of what they actually do like at 0:07.

Also at 6:06 I'm pretty sure that is a US Army guy shooting a Mk. 19, actually a lot of the end of that video looks like Army guys.

Don't worry, I'm just messin with the Security Forces. I make fun of my own MOS all the time too. Just to even it out here is one for me.

This job is fucking boring as hell. The most fun you'll get is when you train, or unless you deploy.

Still is a kickass job. Who else can say you're in the AF and have your Ranger Patch and jump wings?

Highly recommend!

can think of 5 more kickass jobs in USAF with jump wings as for ranger patch.  If your even allow to wear in USAF I am sure these guys have it as well.

1. PJ - Pararescuemen

2. Combat Controller, (CCT)

3. Special Operations Weather Team (SOWT)

4. Special Tactics Officer

5. Combat Rescue Officer (CRO)

Oh  and ever one I ever meet is humble person.     For number one on list.  Think of Navy seal mixed in with big City paramedic.  Then toss them behind enemy lines.   That sums up the PJ combat roll.

I see your point, but 95% of the AF isn't SpecOps. The washout rate for those jobs are at above 95%.

Plus I don't believe any role warrants more respect and tradition and overall badassery than having a Ranger Patch. Even I have much respect for those guys.

Wait what? Ranger patch? What is that? Are you referring to the Ranger tab or is this some weird AF thing?

I'm not sure how the AF does it but in the Army anyone can go to Ranger school, it isn't restricted to certain MOSes. As a 35F I could go there (but fuck that lol) earn and wear my Ranger tab. Hell, you could be a 92S (Laundry specialist, yes that is an actual MOS) and earn your Ranger tab and be the most badass, hardcore 92S in the whole army.

That's the word I was looking for! Tab! lol

In the AF, mostly only SF will get the chance. Fort Benning has a small AF presence, so SF is there. A lot of SF guys have ranger tabs, jump wings, etc. There's even one guy I meant who went through BUD/s, although washed out (Not sure how he got that chance, thought it was only open to Navy).

That's nothing. we have 3E4X3 (Pest Control).

Your experience in AF Security Forces is going to be very dependent on your duty station and your command there.  Some bases have zero mission and are boring as hell, other's you're busy all the time and you can work many diverse roles.  Also, it's very dependent on your command whether you can get any of that training.  Some units get absolutely no chance of ever going to those schools.  On the other hand. I've heard the guys at Moody AFB (820th, etc) that deploy a lot, get a lot of opportunities to go to all those schools.  Personally I don't understand AF Security Forces going through ARMY sniper, ranger, airborne school.  Ranger school is a tough experience.  If I'm going to put in the work and earn the tab I'd want to be assigned to a Ranger unit and walk the walk.  I always ask people why not just join the ARMY if you wanted to do those things and actually work in units that use those skills full time.  I'm all for cross training and developing your skill set but let's be honest, a lot of that training is overkill for the day to day mission of Air Force Security Forces.  Feels more like bragging rights more then anything else, just my .02.

Honestly, I haven't marched since Tech School. The AF has almost zero downtime like Army/Marine combat units. I was told by a buddy of mine in the Army, that they march only because there's nothing to do. Besides Army MPs and admin staff, they don't have a "job" like the majority of the AF (SF, mechanics, medical, admin, etc.). There "job" is a combat role.

The 820th is usually almost always deployed in A-stan and perform outside-the-wire operations. For some reason they think that basic SF training qualifies us to supplement frontline Army/Marine units. The 820th has access to those training courses since it helps them and aids them in combat. But yes, the majority of the AF SF just want the bragging rights to say they are a 'ranger'. Although if I had the chance, I'd go through jump school just to say I got to parachute out of a plane. lol

Oh okay, in my class we have to march so that way we can teach it to others who come into ROTC as a newbie, or if your on drill team, then you have to march in order to get prepared.

Yeah, if you are stationed at Fort Benning, Fort Bragg, or Fort Campbell then there are a bunch of cool schools you can go to. It is really easy to go because the training is at your duty station so your unit doesn't have to send you on TDY to go get extra training. A lot of guys at Fort Benning go through Airborne school even though they are not part of an airborne unit. I wouldn't mind doing Pathfinder school and even though I am in an airborne unit I am stationed all the way in Germany and my unit doesn't really need any Pathfinders with my MOS.

Some of those guys might actually use that training, but I'm sure most of them will never need it. However Airborne School is actually a DoD school meaning that it is run by all the branches. Most of the instructors are Army guys but they have Air Force and Navy instructors as well (I had a couple in my company). I guess they could have Marine Corps and Coast Guard instructors but I never saw any while I was there.

Lol, have them go up to a actual Ranger and say that. In the Army most people don't call themselves a Ranger unless they actually serve with the Ranger Regiment. Jump school is a lot of fun, it sucks like 80% of the time (especially during jump week) but when you are actually jumping it is so much fun.

Im a law enforcement explorer we drill/march for about 45 minutes once a week. It might sound crazy to some but actually enjoy it, ill probably change my mind once I enlist though.

I enjoy marching/drilling occasionally but doing it all the time in basic training kinda made me not like it so much. Once you finish basic training and AIT you pretty much never march or drill. The closest thing I do to drilling in my unit is standing in formation in the morning before work for like 15 mins.
