Antennas Not Showing In-game

Featured Replies

Today I decided to play around in Zmodeler some more, all went well however I've run into two separate issues.

The antennas on the car do not show up in-game, however they are clearly visible in OpenIV and Zmodeler.

Here's my hierarchy:

Antennas are either under the boot or bodyshell (NOTE: I have since renamed the antennas to remove the spaces. This did NOT however solve the issue).

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

I ran into the same problem recently, but with a different object. Like you said, you can see them in zmodeler and openIV, but not in-game. Most of the time this has to do with textures, specifically shader configuration for the objects, in this case the antennas.

If you follow this link: http://forum.zmodeler2.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5565 ,

Towards the bottom of the page it provides what specific textures for each shader based on the name you gave the material. Different shaders need different texture combinations.

I think mesh would be the best for the antennas.

So at the end of the material name make sure it says mesh

Then just follow these guidelines for editing the textures:

Shader: gta_vehicle_mesh

Texture layer #1: Main vehicle texture (usually vehicle_generic_detail2). Apply as GTA: Texture, UV#1

Texture layer #2: dirt texture, usually vehicle_genericmud_car. Apply as GTA: Dirt/Mud/Reflection, UV#2

Texture layer #3: Bump-map for main texture (usually vehicle_generic_detail2_normal) Apply as GTA: BumpMap, UV#1

Texture layer #4: Specular texture for main texture, (vehicle_generic_detail_spec). Apply as GTA: Specular, UV#1

For me, this problem was solved when I added a "_L0", "_L1", or "_L2" after the component name. :)

I don't think this is a materials issue; rather that the game does not know at what detail level to render them at.

Example:
antenna_3_l_L0

NOTE: If you add an L1 or L2 copy in addition to the L0 model, it will not disappear at different distances.

EDIT: Your car looks great, by the way. Your graphics mod also makes it really pop!

That was on me, I added an update and it should work now. It was caused because I kept it at "gta_default" in the material name which is not a supported shader and will not show up in game. It is now updated to "generic" which is a supported shader.
