Last 4.6-liter V8 Produced

Featured Replies

The legendary engine that powered the Crown Victoria, the Grand Marquis, the Lincoln Town Car, the Marauder, the Mercury Cougar, the F-series, the E-Series, two generations of Mustangs, and many other vehicles has been discontinued. The last one was produced on May 9th, 2014, at one of Ford's assembly plants in Romeo, Michigan.

This may be a bit late, but I figured this would be somewhat relevant, since a lot of people on here like Crown Victoria's, and the engine that powers it.

The 4.6 may not have been the most powerful engine, nor the most efficient, but I'd definitely put it on the top 10 most reliable and easy to fix engines of all time, if there's such a thing.

I'd imagine they're still producing them as crate engines, if you ever wanted to get a brand new, replacement 4.6 for your vehicle, but they're no longer marrying them to new production vehicles.

Farewell 4.6.

Wheres the dislike button? :( what I don't get is yes, the Crown Vic  was very outdated technology, but they could have updated & over hauled everything, instead they put hunks of over priced plastic on the road & to top it all off,  ENTIRE countries having to replace an ENTIRE fleets of vehicles over, unfitting & re upfitting at the cost of Tax Payers.

Unfortunately I think the goal was to to get millions, upon millions for counties all over the place. :(

That could be a possibility, but when they finally decided to retire the CVPI they made an ASS LOAD because departments were buying them up left right & center, so really, it was probably more about money rather than cost efficiency, plus the way new engines are set up to die at 150,000KM cause the timing belt goes.
