What is wrong with my computer monitor?

Featured Replies

Hello All,

Whenever I play GTA IV, I run into some problems involving my computer monitor. While playing, there are small horizontal black lines that go down the screen. Anybody have an idea as to what the problem is? Here are my specs, just in case...

GPU: GeForce GTX 460

CPU: AMD FX-4100 Quad-Core Processor

Memory: 8 GB RAM

Operating System: Windows 7

                                                                                                                                                                             Thanks!

Could be a lot of things, I'd recommend removing the ENB and see if the problem persists.

If it's only in GTAIV when this occurs, that's a good indication that an ingame feature is at fault.

If it's persistent throughout the system, especially when under other types of graphic/cpu intensive loads, it could be a failing GPU or even a monitor,

Something similar happened to me when using a VGA cable, or when I forgot to turn on v-sync.

It shouldn't have anything to do with v-sync as screen tearing only happens horizontally.

You have to test it out your self by:

1.Playing GTA IV with no mods installed... take out ENB

2.Playing other games or even hard core photo editing/rendering

3.Test the hardware for errors... and clean out the dust.

Just test as much as you can till it fix the problem, like if it is the ENB then problem solved

Alrighty, I will check my game without my ENB and HDMI instead of a VGA cable. I will report back ASAP.

Lol, Sorry. I'm really busy, I have a lot of final projects due this week at school.

ineseri, it was my VGA cable. I just switched to an HDMI. Thank you and to all the others that contributed!

Glad I could help :)

@empire: ASAP means 'as soon as possible'. Maybe he didn't have time until now? Geez.

Yes Mr ineseri, I know a woman that walks into a bar. She has a lousy headache.
