Random crashes and other features not working

Featured Replies

Hey,

Im still new to LCPDFR and still working out how everything works but im getting a lot of game crashes.

They normally happen when I get an error from I assume is from callouts+ but im not sure that its even working. I can tell the game is about to crash when i turn up to a call and the suspect is motionless in the street just standing there.

I also have PoliceHelper installed but I cant seem to lay down flares or barriers etc. I did install the flares but pressing "z" doesnt deploy anything.

I have attached my 2 logs.

Let me know if you need anymore info!

Thanks

Hi,

The two errors you get are not actually directly linked to the Callouts+ mod (although I do recognise that plugin is throwing one of them)

I can tell you that callouts+ is working for you, because in your log file you can see it say

[Plugin.Callouts+] Started

[Plugin.Callouts+] Using version 0.1a

Your error is that it is attempting to assign a variable "null" to something which cannot be assigned null, this happens both for Callouts+ and for one of the main LCPDFR callouts.

I'm not too sure why it is referring to null at this point either.

My suggestion is to try and set the "PreloadAllModels = True" under the [Main] part of the LCPDFR.ini file and see if that helps with the callouts.

As for the police helper. Z is not going to function on it's own, it requires the modifier (I believe it uses CTRL and SHIFT)

So for example CTRL + Z

Hey I have already set the PreloadAllModels = True

Ill have a go now at using a modifier for the police helper.

Thanks

Hmm, I'm not too sure what could be causing that error to occur then. I'll have to look more into it for you.

Let me know how the police helper goes, oh I would also recommend disabling world events with the police helper just for stability. A lot of people report it not being fully compatible with LCPDFR 1.0 and that it causes crashes.

Who knows, it may even fix your problem.

Thanks

The barrier works now but flares and lights dont when pressing Alt or Shift. I doubled checked I installed the flares correctly and it seems like I have.

I have now disabled world events too. Ill see if that helps.

Check your police helper settings, the traffic cones are meant to spawn behind the character by default, and if you are too close when you try to spawn another one, it will remove the one you just placed.

The lights only work at night as well so you will always get a traffic cone during the day.

It means you, officially, shouldn't use other mods, only LCPDFR

But everyone does. Your not really helping.

Any mod for any game should not 'officially' be used. They are all unstable all with their issues. But for each mod we work a way around the issues to try and make them run as smoothly as possible.

Hence my post. Im trying to get a stable version working with some cool / different add ons.

He is helping, if you think more about it.

What ineseri is trying to say to you is that LCPDFR was built, tested and designed on a completely clean version of GTA IV. No other mods. So it technically does not support modded copies of GTA IV (where you have other mods installed as well).

Yes, we all do add extra mods to it. But that is part of your problem, because LCPDFR only supports a clean version of GTA IV, we nor the developers can predict what will happen when you add another mod to it. We can only speculate at what could happen. In general the more mods you add on top of LCPDFR, the more unstable GTA IV becomes.

I should add, that just because everyone does it, doesn't mean it is the right way to do things. You find the correct workaround for your own system because no two systems are the same.

At this point my advice to you would be to uninstall all of your mods, get a clean version of GTA IV running and then install LCPDFR 1.0b and test how well it runs. If it runs fine, great, then you can begin re-adding your other mods slowly. (be sure to have a clean backup of GTA IV though)

Yeah, and you're not really being very respectful. I meant exactly what I said, and that was the help I provided. All that is in the manual for LCPDFR, which you should read before using it.

LukeD - I started with a clean install of GTAIV and LDPDFR. I played that for a week or so then started adding other mods like the ELS lighting system and other scripts. Im still new to LCPDFR so I was unsure if some people have found a few mods that work well or not.

I play other mods in other games and I'm fully aware that they don't work 100%. But there are ways to try and make thins work close to it, hence my post.

ineseri - Im not been disrespectful at all. You said don't use mods... Just use LCDPFR. But thats not the point. The idea of a modding community is to try new things and push the boundaries of the game. I was just asking if anyone can help me run what I have installed to work well. If its not possible then fine. But saying just don't do it doesn't help at all.

Ill just uninstall mods and try different ones.

Thanks for the help anyway :)
