Right well I bought the game on steam ages ago and haven't been able to play it once! I'm consistently getting the same error "GTA IV FATAL ERROR: DFA did not initialize properly. Please make sure you are using LaunchGTAIV.exe to launch the game."

 

And yes, I have been using this to launch the game I've gone directly to the root folder and opened it and still get the same error! It's driving me nuts has anyone got a fix for it?

If launching the game via launchgtaiv.exe doesn't work, then it's not a steam issue (running it that way bypasses Steam).

 

The game might have installed incorrectly.  You can right click on GTA IV in your Steam library and select "Properties."  Then click the Local Files tab and select Verify Integrity of Game Cache.  This will re-download any corrupted game files (and replace any modified files).

 

If that doesn't work, try uninstalling GTA IV and then reinstall it.

As Icon said, this most likely isn't a Steam issue. Make sure that the game is installed as instructed above, and make sure you are running the game as administrator. Running the game as administrator: Go to the GTA IV folder, right click on GTAIV.exe, Properties, Compatibility and select 'Run this program as administrator', do the same exact thing to the LaunchGTAIV.exe.

how i do this plz setting ...tell me 1st to last

1. Go to your GTAIV Install folder

2. Right-click on LaunchGTAIV.exe

3. Run as administrator

4. Click yes

5. Play GTAIV, if it doesn't work, come back here.
