Upgrading to 1.0 for MP clan

Featured Replies

As you guys know, I'm in the Irvine PD clan with a couple of other people, but they've all been complaining about 1.0 in multiplayer. I figured sooner or later we eventually have to upgrade because .95 probably will be too out of date especially with new members coming on, it'll be a hassle for them to uninstall 1.0 and reinstall .95. The issue with this is, my Chief and Assistant Chief have been complaining of lag issues with 1.0 (which I also encountered myself) and major instability issues. Since then, 1.0a has come out, but I don't know how drastic the improvements are and whether they help with lag and/or instability. To give you an outline on what was happening to me before, read the following:

Lag. I went from 70FPS to 30/45.

Texture loss. 1.0 (NOT 1.0a) had caused a lot of texture loss, and in order for the issue to be completely resolved, a game reinstall would be required.

Instability and more crashing in MP. Does anyone else experience this? We seemed to randomly crash during testing patrols, and we tried to get in as many pursuits, traffic stops and calls as possible to put it through a stress test as well. That failed miserably though, and I don't know if that's fixed in 1.0a. The reason I'm not testing it for myself is because I don't want to install a minor update, experience the same issues, and be forced to reinstall my game. It's a waste of time.

Anyone have any advice?

SCNG FTW!!

1.0 is not compatible with MP according to Sam.

Hmmm. Thanks! I'm surprised they haven't made it compatible! So what's the point of 1.0 then? SP is so boring...

It is definitely MP compatible, Our clan plays online without many problems! Just yesterday i played with a few guys for about 1 hour and 20 min in multiplayer, with no crash! To make shure you and your friends dont run into many problems, make shure you all are using the same mods and cars.

For me 1.0 is more stable than 0.95 ever was or ever could be!!! Also you can just make a backup of your gta iv and switch back and forth with 0.95 and1.0a instead of a fresh install.

TLDR: Unsupported, and scripts in mutliplayer which affect NPCs are always REALLY buggy, but LCPDFR comes with some memory fixes to enhance your MP experience, but not yet with full support.

Where does he say 1.0 is not compatible with multiplayer?????

It's *unsupported*, not *incompatible*. We did in fact do a bit of testing and bugfixing in MP, but it doesn't work as well as it should. For example, last time I tested, other human players do not provide visual in pursuits; that means you can't easily have a system where the highway patrol takes over the pursuit, because if the person who started it breaks off and AI doesn't pick up visual, the pursuit ends. Workaround: call air support to keep it going.

As far as unsupported vs. incompatible goes, note that 0.95 isn't supported at all, and was never supported in MP. 1..0 is a step forward; we have a mechanism to provide MP support (connecting the copies of LCPDFR the clients run to the one the server runs). What we didn't do was fully write in MP support, because we wanted to focus on single-player for the 1.0 release.

Also, if you have MP suggestions, we'd love to hear them in the suggestions forum.

Additionally, texture loss may be caused by LCPDFR, but generally it occurs when your video card runs out of memory, perhaps your system is not powerful enough to LCPDFR and the cars, ENBs, textures, scripts, and whatever else you got.

Well, I never get texture loss without 1.0, and my game is totally smooth. I am getting a GTX 760 and probably some new RAM as well as a PSU for my birthday (Feb 12) so that should probably add a little more power into that. As for the other members, we did a 1.0 patrol and about 40% of them couldn't get it at all. Their computers ran just fine with .95, but I think that's caused by their computer quality, which annoys me a lot because all our videos look crap pretty much (except for mine :P).

Nice! GTX 760 will definitely fly.

0.95 definitely requires more power from the GPU, as it is a much more in depth script with more features. In comparison, I have 2 GTX 660's in SLI and they run everything with scripts, car mods, ENBs, ELS ect with no problems and at the highest settings. Occasionally, my SLI will disable itself and I will see texture loss with my current settings. (In other words, 1 GTX 660 isn't powerful enough).

Looks like your bud's computers may need some upgrading as well. :)

My clan has not switched over to 1.0 yet as well. However, I went into a random multiplayer lobby with all my car mods, scripts, peds, etc. and to my surprise I didn't crash until after about an hour. Not to mention we all have different mods. So to say I think LCPDFR 1.0 is stable enough as long as you all have the same mods.

Edit: Note I don't even have a desktop. I run off a laptop made for everyday use. I just added more RAM.
