Hey fellas,

Ive noticed alot more posts lately of people saying things like, "LIghtbars wont work" "how do you install Vehicles" "why is there only taxis spawning" and some other , Noobish things... I was considering writing a guide geared towards new players, one the explains how to do some of the basic things, that most of us do, like mod cars, and els, and fix our taxi problem.

The guide would consist of.

-How to Install Vehicles Using Spark IV

-How To Install ELS For your newly moddded cars.

-How to install ELS Fix V1, (Allows you to turn on and off Lights off ai cars Around you)

-How to download and install Traffic Flow

These all are very basic things, as most of us know, but the new people here are flooding the forums with questions that involve all these topics, i used the search function and i didnt really find anything that already Covers these three topics in one post,

Posting this thread prior to writing the guide for 2 reasons..

-Is this guide needed? has someone already done something relative to this?

-If this guide would be helpful,Suggestions of other things to add?

Thanks, Feedback Appreciated.

I know other sites have tutorials, but the problem is its not within lcpdfr community, therefore people dont know where to find it, if i were to write one here atleast it would be within our own community, and peoPle could use rhe search function

The thing is, the forums here aren't really designed around tutorials. I suppose, in some aspects, it is a little disappointing, but in reality many people know about GPM and can view the tutorials on their site so there isn't a huge requirement for tutorials on these forums. There's two or three right now because they relate to LCPD:FR in particular rather than modding in general. Perhaps some day, when the forums grow a little bit more there will be a need for more tutorials and a section for them might be created. But that would be in the future, if at all. Also, the readme files of the mods you listed do tell people how to install them (of course, no one ever reads them).

About the search part of your post:

Many people have posted about the mods you listed, this is true. And all of those posts have been answered, meaning someone might have a little luck if they searched for how to install a certain mod.

Another thing, though, is that many ELS enabled cars are only on GPM, and thus that would be the most sensible place to look rather than looking on these forums. The thing is, the LCPD:FR forums are about one mod while GPM is about every single mod that has to deal with police car mods. It doesn't make as much sense to post about other mods here, whilst GPM is a mecca of information in regards to police mods.

So sometime in the future a guide like this might be very handy on this site but, for now, I think it would be best to leave most of the tutorials on GPM, where those mods are found.

I'm with Iconography on this one. Although it's nice that members want to help eachother out, I think there are enough tutorials already.

Btw, Iconographgy, congrats with braking the 1000 posts barrier

Make a website about it if you want, or a PDF/Word document. That would be a great way to keep the forum clutter clean, and just put a link in your signature. That way when somebody asks something, they can go off-site.

  • 2 weeks later...

yes, please do...i just got this and dont know how to install cars

I really do not want to sound harsh but it all boils down to this:

This really isn't the kind of place for tutorials like that. I'm not trying to be mean here but a simple Google search will yield at least 5 different tutorials on how to install cars. It seems completely pointless to make another tutorial when there's already 5 or 10 or 20 out there already. All you need to do is search. It takes the same effort to search on here than it does on Google.

Edit: I guess I just don't see a reason, that is all. If the moderators and administrators are fine with it then of course, go ahead and make one. I, in my humble opinion, do not see a dire need at the moment.
