So I started with GIMP and I began to get the hang of it. While I am very easily confused by this, can anyone give me some tips or pointers to help me get started out? I'm not asking for elaborate, really complicated skin help, just basic stuff! :)

Always make sure you have a good reference picture and high res logos/badges.

Don't rush your self, take your time. My problem with skinning was always rushing, I just never really had the patience.
