Black Screen When Loading Gta Iv

Featured Replies

So I am new to the GTA and LCPDFR and wanting to download everything so I can join in the fun. Well I downloaded GTA IV last night and got it all downloaded as well as the patch so I can play LCPDFR. Well when I got everything done and tried to play GTA when it was loading it connected and everything but went straight to a black screen then just froze. It continues to do that everytime I start it. Also when I do launch the game it takes me to a crappy graphic screen on my home screen while GTA loads what is that about? I just want to play the game haha so any help would be awesome. btw its not my computer trust me.

Thanks,

Fellow Gamer

Is it a legal copy of the game? Steam/Retail? Are you running the game as administrator? Using the latest patch? What mods are you using? List them please. Could you run the diag tool and post the log here? ('?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>). Computer specs?

I bought it off Amazon; Yes for Admin; Yes for latest patch; If your talking about First Repsonse mod then thats it. The diag tool continues to stop working once it gives a green check for GTAIV

Have you disabled UAC in Windows? Are you running the tool as administrator?

  • Make sure that your GTA IV root folder (and every subdirectory) is not set to "read-only"
  • Ensure that FirstResponse.net.dll is in the SCRIPTS folder and that AdvancedHook.dll is in the GTA IV ROOT folder.
  • Ensure that ScriptHook.dll, ScriptHookDotNet.asi and Dsound.dll OR Xlive.dll are in the GTA IV ROOT folder
  • Ensure that there is a folder titled 'LCPDFR' in the SCRIPTS folder.
  • Check that all the above files exist, if they do not, reinstall LCPDFR with the automatic installation.
  • Install these: http://www.microsoft...9f-b21f31ab88b7http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en

Copy the folder to a location that you own (for example, your desktop) and try it again. If it still remains, don't worry it's normal. Did you follow the rest of the list?
