National Guard Mp?

Featured Replies

Hey all

I think I may want to be a National Guard Military Police officer in Florida after I enlist when I turn 17

Serving this country is something I am really interested in and it will help me to become a Civilian Law enforcement officer

So here is the question

When do you get the uniforms?

Just kidding

Any thoughts or ideas would help

Thanks

Thoughts or ideas on what? On how to join?

No on becoming an MP, If it is a good idea

Sorry if that sounded a bit douchey.... It's late here. That's up to you really, I always think you should do what you find interesting, challenging and fun. It will surely be a nice merit to put in your curriculum vitae, that is, if you get in at that age. I'm not sure of how that process works, so if you think you can get accepted, by all means: Go for it.

First look into what the MP does, because its not what you think it is...

Also now a days being a vet doesn't give you a big boost at becoming a cop, yeah it helps you but doesn't help you as much as you would think it would, to be honest anyone who spent 4+ years in a well rounded police explorer post will have a better chance then you. Please note i'm not trying to say don't join the Military i'm not saying that just clearing some stuff up.

Ok now that we got that out of the way here are the steps you need to take:

1.) DO YOUR RESEARCH ON EVERYTHING! Being in the Military is nothing like it is on call of duty or on TV shocking right?

2.) Once again do your research make sure that Mp is right for you and check out different parts of the job.. I know a airforce MP (basically the same thing) that all he did was just stand guard at a base and walk around in the 4 years he did that, he arrested something like 8 people. Most of the time he was standing in front of a door making sure people had the right ID's to get into the area they were going. But that might of just been his bad luck because he never got rotated.

3.) When you turn 17 contact a Recruiter and talk about the different jobs and what not the MP have, ask him what benefits you get from it.

I'm not going to say if its a good idea or not, but just prepare to do hours on hours of research...

I understand, I do not like call of duty at all anyway, but yes The Military is something I have always wanted to do You have a lot of responsibility in the Military, and it changes your life, my grandfather was a very weak office job person, when he got drafted he became a killing machine in the marines

Good for him that doesn't matter. Things have changed a lot over the past 20 years. Now a days drill instructors are barely aloud to swear at people.

If someone on the internet can talk you out of joining the Military then its not something you always wanted to do. If its something you always wanted to do then you wouldn't be asking this question.

Give me a list of reasons why you actually want to join the Military, then give me a list of what MP's in the military do.

Look at my modified post.

I'll post it again "Give me a list of reasons why you actually want to join the Military, then give me a list of what MP's in the military do."

Once again i'm not trying to talk you out of it, i'm trying to see if you actually want to do this or if your just confused, this is what my friend did to me and I decided I wasn't right for the military (I wanted to be a Army Ranger ever since I can remember then become a bad ass copper after I got out)

OK

1.I want to protect this country I live in, Foreign and on our soil

2.I want an adventure, something new

3.I can repay everyone who has helped me in life with service

4. I want to go home with the feeling that I am doing something with my life

5. I want to know what I am doing will make me a better person, no matter what anyone says

1. An MP patrols military bases and responds to emergencies

2. MP's provide security

3. Arrest members of the military that have broken the law

3 Investigate crime committed near or on base

Look, I'm in my fifth year of Reserve service in the US Army. The best advice I can give? Don't do it.

If you don't listen to that, then at least DO NOT JOIN THE NATIONAL GUARD.

I have to leave for a few hours, but when I come back, I'll explain in detail.

I just wanted to respond to this thread before I had to head out.

People have too many opinions about things they know nothing about, and the less they know, the more opinions they have.

Remember here I have a brother in the National Guard and he loves it. I also have a friend that was in the Army for 8 years and now is in the National Guard for 4 more.

Just watch what you say lol :P

Okay guys. I'm back.

I know a lot of military guys. I know a lot of National Guard guys. Well, former National Guard guys.

The NG has a nasty habit of lying to people to get them to join. Also, remember that the NG is separate from the US Army.

There are 51 or 52 separate National Guards. I live in Indiana. Say I join the NG, and 4 years later, I want to move to Michigan. I can't transfer units. I would have to actually go through the process of changing branches, which is entirely dependent upon whether my current NG wants to let me transfer.

With the Reserve, you can go anywhere in the US, Guam, or wherever there is a Reserve unit, it is a part of the US Army. It's also much, MUCH easier to go active duty, if that's what you want to do.

If you've got specific military questions, I'll do my best to help.

I joined when I was 17. They gave me $20,000 to sign my life away for 8 years, and a sense of pride and belonging.

Now, five years later, I don't regret joining, but I desperately want out. I realize that's not an option, especially if I ever expect to get into LE.

The number one reason I want out is the disorganization and poor leadership of my unit. But, heh, I have one more year. At two days a month, and one more month of active duty, that's about 55 more days over the next 12 months.

Not that bad, I guess.

People have too many opinions about things they know nothing about, and the less they know, the more opinions they have.

Follow what you want. Now we dont have NG in our country only Army. So i am not the right person to guide maybe But i Can give some tips. We do have MP my grandfather was in the MP. And when i speak to him about his time in the MP he seems to love it and regret nothing. I would recommend you do it if you really want to. But please like the others said DO YOUR RESEARCH.

Good luck
