Missing Textures (Roads, Buildings etc)

NZ_COP

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I recently downloaded LCPD FR 0.91, I play the game for about 5-10mins with no issues, Responding to missions, Call outs, traffic stops, arresting people etc.

At some point the textures start to disappear, such as buildings, trees, roads, traffic lights etc etc.

I have read the forums and made the changes requested using RivaTuner and changing the "SuperFetch" settings to "disabled" but still seem to have the problem as mentioned above.

I have included a picture so everyone can have a look and see what the issue might be (I have not seen a picture up-loaded before of this issue)

If I dont install LCPD FR and just play GTA this problem does not occur.

The specs I have are.

Windows 7 Professional SP1 (32 Bit)

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ 2.10 GHz

4GB Ram

Graphics Card: ATI Radeon 4600 Series (512MB)

Acer Aspire M3200

Direct X 9.0 (I think,)

All drivers are up to date and when I installed LCPD FR all the required stuff was installed, .net Framework and C++ 2010

I run as admin and is running in compatibility mode Windows XP (tried all and get the same issue)

Any tips or help would be great,

Hope I don't break the forum rules but have read this site over and over and cant seem to find the same issue

If i have missed it somehow please kindly provide the link.

Thanks

James

His patrol car in the screenshot doesn't appear to be modded. In any case, it looks as if you're running into the sort of issue people with modded cars have. Typically if your video card and system RAM get flooded with a bunch of visual crap from GTA IV mods, that's exactly what happens to people. I've had it myself after long play sessions with a few modded cop cars. In any case, your system specs are pretty insufficient. Your CPU barely squeaks by the minimum requirements (as far as clock speed goes) to even run GTA IV, never mind the mod. Your graphics card is insufficient by todays standards, although it meets minimum requirements, and you have 3GB of RAM available to Windows, not 4GB, because a 32-bit operating system limits you to about 3.2 GB of RAM. You also have Direct X 11, it comes with Windows 7 by default, but your card can only render DX9 (not an issue as GTA IV is a DX9 game).

I'm going to have to call it a weak computer issue, not a mod issue, unless you have modded cars or other things we don't know about. I'll let some other people weigh in on this topic though, they may have different ideas.

Hi

I don't have modded cars or any extra tweaks.

I guess it comes down to computer RAM, Graphics and my processor. My computer is pretty old but the insides are quite new (but haven't done anything to upgrade in last 2-3 years.

I will put it down to equipment and not the mod, I had a feeling it would the case but wanted to get opinions of others just to make sure.

Although Microsoft Flight Sim X and a few others run without any hassles or glitches but at the end of the day id say my equipment is a little old.

Ill prob invest in a new Gaming Computer or upgrade my graphics and processor at some stage. On the whole its a good computer, just needs some new bits.

Thanks for the response

You should consider teaming up with Rockstar or other such software company and releasing a fully working game, with the interest of users and new age kids buying games you could make a fair amount of coin....

Anyway,

Take Care

Have you check your GPU temperatures in game? If you did post em here so I can see them. if your getting anywhere from 64-70c your GPU is hot. I had that same issue when I was figuring out what the issue was, your GPU is overheating so it's not rendering any textures. I suggest download a GPU tool called EVGA precision. It works wonders for me. It has this amazing option on it called Automatic fan control and it cranks up the fan automatically for you while in game.

I had this issue and took it up with rockstar they said disable all mods and the like.. they finally came to the conclusion that it was my 32bit system, they asked me to install 64bit and i never had an issue after that (running high on everything)

Pictures I sent to R* support:

64-70C isn't bad for a GPU actually. That's what my idle-peak temps were on my ATI Radeon cards, and I idle right around 60C on my current nVidia card. They usually have a threshold of around 110C.

Hi NZer, fellow Aussie here! To deal with my texture problems, I have this file that I place in my GTAIV folder. It works well to fix the missing textures - they might still occur but they will resolve themselves after a shortwhile.

Just download it and place it in your GTAIV root folder. (The one that has dsound.dll etc.)

Also, my computer is:

Windows 7 32-bit

4GB RAM (so 3.2GB)

Nvidia 9600GT

Intel E8400 @ 3.0GHZ

Not much difference from yours, I'd say.

Hi All

Silent Death - Here is the specs of my GPU Temps during game play. Were its highlighted is about roughly were the textures disappear.

The time it takes after pressing ALT+P is varying between 5-10mins to 20-30mins.

I have yet to install and apply your recommendation of EVGA and will install a car mod and monitor the temps then post that as well.

Hopefully the attached file makes sense to you.

Will also try Mage 25s suggestion after doing a test with a car mod.

In the middle of exams and what not so will do this when i can :)
